5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST TOY WE'VE BOUGHT SO FAR
Our son has been playing with his Rody since he got it when he was almost 2. He's always been particularly active and he took to it immediately. It's now more than a year and a half later and, while other toys and playthings have gone in and out of fashion, Rody is still his favorite with no sign of waning.

3.0 out of 5 stars Much Fun But Had A Defect
My almost 3-year-old granddaughters loved Rody and really enjoyed bouncing on him. They did topple over his head a few times at first, so be sure to have plenty of space to avoid accidents. After a few times of play, we noticed the tail had a defect that got worse and worse and developed a tumor-like place. We returned it and haven't gotten the replacement yet. This toy...

Our son has been playing with his Rody since he got it when he was almost 2. He's always been particularly active and he took to it immediately. It's now more than a year and a half later and, while other toys and playthings have gone in and out of fashion, Rody is still his favorite with no sign of waning.

I can't believe how durable this thing is! Our son rides it HARD indoors and out, but Rody can certainly take a licking. It's so great to see a toy last these days.

It's also terrific for stimulating creative play--our son the cowboy has ridden his trusty horse Rody on many an exciting adventure. There was also the barn he built for Rody out of an old box, where Rody slept for a few weeks after we put him to bed each night. And during Christmastime, Rody was a reindeer pulling Santa's sleigh.

And it's incredible exercise too! He just looks like he's having so much fun on it. Our younger son is 16 months and has already started eyeballing Rody and trying to get on it. We'd better get a second one soon to avoid World War III in our house. I really can't recommend this toy enough. It's safe and fun and good for your kid. In these days when it seems that every toy is battery operated and obnoxious, nothing beats Rody for some good, old-fashioned fun. As a parent of 2 young children, and a VERY discriminating toy shopper, I'm delighted to recommend Rody whole-heartedly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun juping toy, and...pet?, December 23, 2008

We gave this to our daughter for her second birthday and she loved it right away. She even adpoted it as a pet and initially insisted that it was a bunny intead of a horse. That said, she still plays with Rody pretty regularly, 6 months after her birthday. My one caution is that as it is a bouncer it is easy for kids to shift to a side and fall over. I find its important to surpervise the jumping and to make sure that kids are not on Rody and near any furnoture corners, etc at the same time to avoid accidents.

I was actually given a Rody by a therapist, but I'm buying one for Nana's house too! My daughter (9 mo.) has Down Syndrome and this is a great toy to motivate her balance and work her legs. The ears are great for chewing on. All the kids who come over want to try Rody out, and he holds up to my 4-year-old quite well. I highly suggest it for kids of all abilities.

Hint: Light colors get dirty and don't come clean! I saw a yellow one that looked icky after very little use. I recommend the purple and red.

I bought two of these for my 2 year old twins because they have a lot of energy. In the winter or on rainy days, it's hard to find a good outlet for that energy so fortunatley, a friend (who is an early childhood educator) recommended these and we have been happy with these horses so far. My kids like them, and they also help build their sense of balance and even helps build a little core strength. They can also be inflated even more as the child grows. My 6 year old nephew was bouncing on one the other day with no problems. I also like the fact that these are phthlate and latex free.

This is our second Rody for grandchildren, and both of the toys are very durable, and are used and loved by the one to two year old children. Do not hesitate to purchase this "toy" for your children or grandchildren.

Our physically maniacial 2 year old daughter got this for Christmas. After a few bumps and bruises, she's a pro. It looks so much fun that I would actually like to sit on it. Even our relatively small 7 1/2 year old loves Rody. One problem we face is the Rody World War when one wants to use it and the other has it, so perhaps you would be wise to have two if that is applicable. Our 7 1/2 year old daughter has actually asked for the Rody Max which is supposed to withstand heavier children. They beat the heck out of the poor guy, but he faithfully bounces them all over the place. I am impressed with how much abuse it has taken. They use his ears as controllers. Let's not discuss what they jammed in its inflation hole area and why they did it. We used our own bicycle tire pump with the adapter that came with Rody to add air. We have primarily used Rody indoors as we live in a snowy place. I've got visions of a projectile 2 year old if it hits a patch of ice. Rody has encouraged races and Olympic-type games. It gets a bit grimy (what does that say for my house?) after being bopped around for a few weeks, but some spray cleaner will handle that. Definitely a good toy to buy. Durable, fun, and helps them burn off their energy.

I purchased one of these for my Grand daughter, at first I thought it was a bit pricey but ow I think it was well worth every penny... so I returned this year and bought this brown one for my Grandson, he's slightly autistic and he loves his... it's great for helping with motor developement skills, but don't tell the kids that they think there just playing... these come in soooo many fun colors that you can get each grandchild there own color and avoid the fighting! ps buy the pump, you'll regret it if you don't standard bike pumps, don't work!

I first saw Rody at my friends house. She'd moved from Germany and brought Rody with her. I was really excited to find Rody in a local shop and discover that Rody is made in Italy, and that while the material used is the rather scary PVC, Lederplastic, the parent company, does not use any of the European 'banned phthalates' which surely means it has to be a notch better than traditional vinyl.

So, we received Rody as a Christmas present for my almost-two-year-old, and it was love at first sight. And why not? This horse is ridiculously adorable. My daughter has taken to feeding Rody the felt lettuce leaves from her play kitchen. She rides him, drags him, cuddles him, and puts him in time out when he's been naughty. My 4-year old has to fight for a turn on Rody, but she seems to appreciate him a great deal as well, even if she is a little big for him and more frequently topples backwards. It may be that if we put more air in him, he'd be more appropriate for the older of our children, but since he's just right for our youngest we figured we'd leave him like he is.

One of my fears in having Rody around was that with our hardwood floors and multiple fireplaces that it would be a head-injury risk, especially for my youngest. I thought he might have to be relegated to the outdoors where the soft ground would cushion their falls. However, they both seem to have a bit more control with him than I would have expected. They seem to anticipate the fall, and go with it, and it's kind of a slow-motion type affair where the impact wouldn't be bad even if they were careless. Of course, they've been a little more low-key than I would have anticipated too, so that adds to my feeling that the toy is generally safer for indoor use than I had initially estimated.

This horse is quite durable. Rody is made of really, really thick heavy duty PVC. He seems more than adequately equipped to handle rough play indoors and out. He's easy to inflate too, we did so in a couple of minutes with a foot-operated pump. He comes with specific attachments that will work with any standard pump.

I would have easily given Rody 5 stars, but I have to say despite the 'safer' vinyl he's made of he really, really stinks. Sometimes I smell him before I see him (my daughter hides him sometimes, though not effectively because the smell gives him away). I guess I expected that safer vinyl wouldn't have that sick-sweet plasticy smell that I so loathe. I'm really hoping that the smell dissipates after a while. In the meantime I give him 'fresh air breaks' on the porch when he's not being played with, hoping this will speed up the process.

I do hope that the plastic he's made of is indeed safe(ish). I wouldn't get rid of him unless I was given a strong reason to suspect otherwise. He really is a loved toy, well-designed and a great source of indoor athletic play.

Grandchild tested---A++ RODY is safe for little ones. When they fall off the floor is not far with Rody's short legs. His ears are nice to hold on with and he bouces without too much effort. Two, three and four year olds really give Rody a workout! He also makes a nice pillow on the floor :)
