My biggest complaint is definitely with the strength of the c-clamp style base and the post that is used to hold the lamp in the clamp. Plastic and metal combination are pretty flimsy. It's not a great fitment either and is shaky, flexible, and a seems a bit weak and fragile. I've got to remind myself not to grab and pull it from a folded, resting position too quickly as it's likely to bend or break under the pressure. Except for this short-coming, the rest of the lamp works well.

Just today I received my black,Ledu L745BK Fluorescent Swing Arm Magnifying Lamp and I am happy as a Lark! I'd bought the same Ledu light some 25 yeqrs ago, in white, and after years of heavy service the plastic lens mounting clamps deteriorated. Fortunately, I located the Ledu Mfg. name and Model # and Amazon had one in stock. It's quite an amazing device and I just don't fathom how some other reviewers felt the device was poorly constructed! It's nearly all metal, has a vigorous heavy duty clamp and additional electrical 3-prong outlet at the base for computer or typewriter. There are 4 heavy-duty jointed segments with swivels that can be tightened to maintain its stance. The 5 inch biconvex lens and 22 Watt circular fluorescent tube provides ample illuminated magnification for diverse uses: in my case for forensic examination of photographs & documents, but also for checking microcircuitry on computer components, repair of jewelry items, watch bands, etc. When not in use it easily swings out of the way. I also find it very useful for examination of cuts, bruises and facilitates the removal of splinters ( I am a physician).
The improvements I noted over that of my previous light is that this lamp has more spectral white, and it lights immediately, no longer in need of holding the button down for a few seconds.

Got the lamp but no mount, after alot of emails, phone calls and hassle returned lamp. The company ignored me after that...no refund, no replacement lamp, no communication worth a damn. Amazon.com looked out for my satisfaction though and refunded my money which i eventually applied to the purchase of another lamp from a different company. Alot of hassle around christmas time.

This is an investment that will pay for itself very quickly. I read a review earlier that the plastic clamp doesn't hold the rest of the lamp very well. BULL. This thing clamps nice and solid. I have a desk about 1.5" thick and the only time this lamp shakes is when I'm slamming the desk.
If you do any kind of tedious work that requires good lighting that's easily manipulated, DON'T THINK -- JUST BUY. You will not be disappointed with this. Great BUY!!!

This is an amazing light for close work.
This is the second light that I have purchased for
my shop. The light is bright enough to see what
you need without blinding you (as some can).
Definitely would recommend this for anyone
needing to close up inspections.

How manay times have you ordered a product, only to have it arrive and be...well...ok, but not exactly what you thought you were ordering or what you wanted? Not so, with this product! I ordered this product to work on a major ship model, with little teenie-weenie thread lines/ropes. Where I once was blind...now I see!

I bought this for my woodworking workbench. It works great, providing general lighting, and of course close inspection through the magnifier when needed. Since the bench is small, this has the advantage or taking up almost no surface area. I was very pleased that the clamp is large enough to clamp onto the bench, which is about 2 inches thick. And finally, the auxiliary outlet at the base is perfect for plugging in my router, drill, etc. I'm happy with this lamp.

We had the forerunner of this item, which we purchased about 20 years ago. NOT just for seniors folks...anyone would benefit from having one of these. It has lasted well with only 2 bulb replacements, until one of the joints finally succumbed to metal fatigue from years of daily use.
The switch on this one is an improvement, in that you don't have to hold it until the light bulb warms up. It is a great lamp to have attached to a work area or desk. You can use it just for the lighting, and the swing arm lets you put the light just where you need it. The swivel head helps you keep shadow off your work and keep the glare away.
And then there's that great magnifying glass built in ready for use whenever you need to swing it in and get a better look at something.

We use these in a repair lab and they work great and the price is comparable to other luxo lamps

I was very excited when I ordered this product as it was exactly what I needed. However, after a few days I received a box with 2 circular light bulbs in them. At first I thought that perhaps the lamp bulbs were shipped seperately due to their fragility and the actual lamps would arrive shortly. Two days after I got the bulbs I got an e-mail stating there was a problem with my order, my order was cancelled, and I received a full refund.

So, now I have no lamps and bulbs for lamps I don't own...
