suggest you buy replacement tubes right away,
By maemurphy "maemurphy" (Burnsville, MN) - See all my reviews

We bought this to keep crickets for my daughter's bearded dragon. It works GREAT, and is easy to clean. The black tubes are wonderful for ease of dispensing crickets.
However, the clear plastic caps are a serious weakness. They break way too easily. We're down to one tube being useable. Fortunately there are replacement tubes available (though not at the local stores, we have to order them). My suggestion is that you purchase a replacement set when you purchase your kricket keeper, so you'll have them on hand. You're going to need them. If not for this pretty serious design flaw, I'd have given this a five star review.

Works great but don't drop tube,
This review is from: Lee's Kricket Keeper, Large (Misc.)
This really works great. The best thing to use is cricket water and cricket food. The crickets immediately hide in the tubes.
Here are two tips that will really help you. To OPEN the cap to put back the tube, press on the top by the hinge not lift it or the cap will often come off the hinge. Secondly, don't drop the tube on a hard floor. The clear cap is made out of easily cracked brittle plastic and it will crack. They sell replacement tubes with the cap and that is how you get a cap. The brittle plastic tube cap really is the week point of the cage and is just poor engineering. Well I still like the cage. I cannot see how any cricket can get out unless you don't close the cap or leave the top center window partly open. I later bought replacement tubes and caps and these caps were stronger so maybe they corrected the problem. I keep most of the crickets in a large plastic tub (with 1000) which has paper towel cardboard roils and transfer the soon to be eaten ones to this cage. Also note you should feed and take care of your crickets well. They should be well-fed (GUT-LOADED) before giving the to your pet to eat.

Not Suitable for Small Crickets,

This keeper will only hold fully adult crickets. Small to medium sized crickets escape with ease. The holes in the lid are huge. You might as keep your small crickets in a container without a lid at all - it's that useless.
I do like that they sell replacement parts, that's awesome.

Makes life MUCH easier to keep crickets, we are able to keep 200 pin head crickets for about a month using them to feed our tree frogs. Do keep a moist sponge in the case and we throw potato slices and apple slices in as well.

Great!,

Very convienient and useful. Despite what the above person may say, as long as the lid is properly closed, crickets cannot escape. Tubes are easy and convinient way to remove crickets.

For starters, one of the clear tube caps was broken right out of the box, so I Crazy Glued
that. Then I realized that the slits on the lid for ventalation were way to wide for tiny crickets, so I did a major modification. Using screen, and a hot glue gun, I covered all the slits with screen (pretty much the whole lid). I had to measure and cut each piece of screen to fit. It looks funky, but now not a single tiny crick can escape!! The tubes usualy have way too many cricks in them unless you have some other stuff, like egg cartons in there for them to hide. If not, be prepared to dump a zillion cricks in your animal cage accedently!! Would be nice if you could SEE through the tubes, but no, you have no way to know how many are in there (if any). Not really very useful to me. It's easier to just use an empty clear plastic tooth brush tube, lay it on the inside edge, and heard the cricks into it with your hand. Then just put a cap on the tube and you can adjust just how many you want. Oh well, I can still use it for a mantis cage!!! would work great for that!!

Good for Short Term Storage,
This review is from: Lee's Kricket Keeper, Large (Misc.)
I usually buy crickets by the hundreds. I like to use the Kricket Keeper to store about 100 at a time so they are ready for quick feeding to my beardie. Its very easy to just pull out a tube, pour some dust in the tube, shake it and dump them in with my lizard.

Best Cricket Cage I have owned,
This review is from: Lee's Kricket Keeper, Large (Misc.)
The Kricket Keeper is an excellent product and highly recommended to any person who needs to store live crickets. I drop the crickets in, add a mutli purpose cricket food/gut loader and when my beardies are hungry I pull out a black tube and shake it over thier feeding bin. Its as easy as that. No trying to catch crickets with a cricket catcher and no more grabbing them with my fingers/tongs. I have never had a cricket escape from my keeper and even tho it says it can hold 150 crickets. I dump about 250 in there and no escapes. My beardies blow through them so fast I have never tried to sustain 200+ crickets for long though. Buy it you wont be dissatisfied.

Waste of money ...,
By Felina418 (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lee's Kricket Keeper, Large (Misc.)
This cricket keeper is a waste of money. While the black tubes (with clear caps on the ends of the tubes) are a good idea to help get the crickets out when you need them, crickets can still escape from this keeper through the lid. I set this in my bathtub since so many crickets keep escaping every night and I'm still finding crickets around the house.
