Product Description

The Major Diatonic harmonica is the most commonly used tuning for playing Blues, Rock, Country Folk & Jazz. Major Diatonic harps are produced by several manufacturers using various names such as Blues Harp, Marine Band, Golden Melody, Big River, Special 20, Pro Harp, Folk Master, Star Performer, etc. Although the cover plates are stamped with a variety of different names for marketing purposes, all of these harmonicas have the exact same notation layout as the Lee Oskar Major Diatonic. The most important difference is in the quality of materials, construction, design and sound. Lee Oskars are the best harmonicas in the world, and that's not just our opinion. All over the world, professional players prefer Lee Oskar Harps over any other brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mine Don't Leak Air, March 11, 2010

I own several Lee Oskar Harmonicas. I don't have a problem with them leaking air at all. I can't help but wonder if J. Cohen happened to just get a damaged one. Leaking air is very strange for a plastic combed Harmonica. And I feel they sound great for their price, $24-27. I too like to try different brands and models of Harmonicas. I've had mixed luck with models of Hohner. The wood comb "Marine Band" has a nice warm tone and bends notes easily but I must be too rough on them and they go quickly out of tune. Suzuki all metal "Pro Master" harmonicas are extremely well made and sound clear, precise, but cool, and cost double a Lee Oskar. My favorite harmonicas are Seydel, they sound beautiful. Even though they have been around since 1847 they are not as well known to Americans because Seydel happened to be on the wrong side of the border in what was during the cold war, East Germany. Seydel "Blues Session" harps are hand made, and cost about $39-45. For a price, Seydel makes harps in many different weird tunings. I have a few very interesting ones aside from "major diatonic." But Suzuki and Seydel make even more expensive models. Hohner also makes really nice expensive harps that I could only dream of playing. I'd urge J. Cohen to give Lee Oskar another chance and also try a Seydel!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Lee Oskar Harmonica, Major Key of B Flat (Electronics)
Sounds good , really as all OSKARS do......" BUT " Of all the KEYS of HARPS I've played...the LEE OSKARS key Bb, breaks faster then all of them. I wear these out. TWO months and there done. I don't know why, they just don't last. Other OSKERS do last. LEE needs to work on these Bb keys.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blues harmonicas, May 31, 2009
This review is from: Lee Oskar Harmonica, Major Key of B Flat (Electronics)
Lee Oskar harmonicas are very well made and finished off nicely. They have a nice "bright" sound and there are no rough edges or corners like Honers. Lee Oskar's are one of the lightest harmonicas on the market and easy to clean or replace the reeds when necessary. For the money they are one of the best harmonicas you can buy.
