Although the DVD quality is poor and there's no subtitles, I must say I really enjoyed watching it ! Lee Perry's wicked cheek in tongue phrases are superb. The soundtrack is very nice.

Wot, no subtitles? Dude, the guy's speaking english. Just cuz you can't understand the ramblings of a man who's way gone beyond the edge of the ape oven don't mean everyone involved wasn't smoking elephant-sized bombers. Totally fuzzed like Brooklyn Community Acess TV on LSP.Strcitly, KING OF SWITZERLAND!!!

The soundtrack is great and the dub master is a worth the purchase, a good Dr. Alimantado interview. It does lack the quality of a Hollywood production, don't get hung up on that, the sound of the Black Ark parallels the vibe of the DVD.

This must be the worst documentary ever,
This review is from: Lee Scratch Perry: The Unlimited Destruction (DVD)
I was prepared for some nice footage from the seventies, but this is an interview from the early nineties with Perry in his home in Switzerland. The DVD comes without any subtitles and it is impossible to understand what Perry says. Also it was only 48 minutes long (not 90!) which can seem disappointing, but it was actually a relief.

This DVD doesn't contain any footage of concert performances or recording sessions. Instead, it's just poor quality video of Scratch from 1990, rambling incoherently and walking around in his garden. If you're a naive teenage reggae fan, determined to study Scratch's every random utterance for signs of divine wisdom, then perhaps you'll enjoy this. Otherwise, you'll realize it's just a silly bootleg, designed to make a few bucks off of Scratch's myth. |
