When popular talk show host Leeza Gibbons' mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, she and other family members learned firsthand the importance of the phrase "Take your oxygen first," meaning to place one's physical, mental, and spiritual health first to give good care to a loved one. The phrase eventually became the title of her latest book.

"Caregiving has the potential to derail one's own health and happiness during what may be a journey lasting many years," Leeza explained in a recent Post interview. "The key challenge is remembering to take care of oneself."
