As a long time Mxpx fan, I initially passed on this release when it first came out because I felt they were on the downward slope with albums like "Before Everything and After." I just wasn't excited about it the way I used to be about an Mxpx release. When I finally listened to it, I was pleasantly surprised. The songs rock a little bit harder than their other material circa this release, and thankfully Mike (for the most part) sings more like his old self, without the nasally quality. I especially like "One Step Further"--what a great song. If I could have a whole album full of those, I'd be a happy camper. "Shanghaied in Shanghai" is also a lot of fun and "Desperate to Understand" and "Broken" are memorable as well.

This EP is fast, aggressive, catchy, powerful, and extremely energetic. All of the songs are gritty and melodic which is a powerful combination that is sure to impress. The band even explores a new territory in the more relaxed "End." Any collection of good music will not be complete without this release. MxPx just keeps getting better.
