Incredibly Helpful,
By Jim Cox (cayenne@lvcablemodem.com) (Las Vegas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
I would give this book 10 stars if I could! I suffered a major heart attack in 1989 at the age of 41. Shortly after that I came across this book purely by accident. It was very believable. Purely on an act of faith (since I was also suffering from a severe, sometimes bleeding, ulcer) I went to health food store and bought cayenne capsules. I took them. Within three days my 10 year old ulcer was completely healed...and since my original heart attack, have been symptom-free of coronary heart disease to this day. I am now 52.I credit this book and the healing properties of cayenne for saving my life. In fact, I use the word cayenne in my email address as well as naming my commodity trading company after the red pepper...just so people ask me why, and I get the chance to recommend the book and cayenne. Simply amazing...

HE WASN'T LYIN': HE WASN'T DYIN', THANKS TO CAYENNE!,
By STEPHEN T. McCARTHY (a Mensa-donkey in Phoenix, Airheadzona.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
Shortly after moving to Phoenix in 1995, I took a job in a health food store. I had not been there long when one day a gentleman approached and asked if we carried GRANULAR LECITHIN. I took him back to the refrigerated section, and in the course of conversation, he happened to mention being (as I recall) 80 years old. Well, I almost fell over! Never in my life had I met a person who looked so much younger than their age! Many people have told me that I look considerably younger than 45 (I always respond that I'm pickled from the years I spent LIQUIDATED on "Mad Dog" 20/20, Night Train, Thunderbird and other fine wines), but this guy was in a league by himself!
I called the assistant manager over and told her to guess his age. Like me, she nearly hit the floor upon learning that her estimate of 50 was 30 years shy of the truth. I wondered if it was genetic, but he said that neither his parents nor his siblings exhibited the same trait. He attributed it to LECITHIN, which was the only dietary supplement he had been using religiously for many, many years. Not long after, I purchased Dick Quinn's book, 'LEFT FOR DEAD' which includes a chapter on Lecithin, and explains the 12-Day Flush. Lecithin is a type of water-soluble fat derived from eggs and soybeans. Experts say the choline in Lecithin liquifies cholesterol and dissolves deposits. Check the ingredients of ANY candy containing chocolate and you'll find Lecithin listed. Without Lecithin, the fat would separate from the cocoa, and coagulate. The Lecithin keeps it all in a smooth, liquified state. It does the same thing in your bloodstream, preventing plaque buildup in the arteries which results in heart attacks and strokes. While the 12-Day Flush (3 heaping tablespoons of granular Lecithin taken once a day for 12 days) may have a mild laxative effect on some people, it is actually designed to clear clogged ARTERIES. In 2002, my Mom suffered a small stroke. Afterwards, I remembered what I had learned in 'LEFT FOR DEAD', and - unbeknownst to her doctor - two weeks before a scheduled test to determine the degree of blockage in her carotid arteries, I convinced my Mom to go on the 12-Day Flush as an experiment. When the doctor got the test results, she was quite surprised to find that the blood flow through my Mom's arteries was similar to what she sometimes finds in 17-year-olds, and she was at a loss to explain how the stroke had occurred in the first place. Because we didn't have a test done PRIOR to the Flush, I can't unequivocally prove that the Lecithin was responsible for the unexpected results. You can draw your own conclusions. In 1992, Dick Quinn wrote, "I had a double coronary bypass about 14 years ago - four times longer than a bypass is supposed to last. The comedian Jackie Gleason had his first bypass the day I had mine. He subsequently had three more. Then he died...According to 'modern medicine', I should be dead now, but I am very much alive, thanks entirely to 'ancient medicine.' My bypass was actually a failure from the very first. It closed within a week. Herbs reopened my arteries and saved my life...If I die tomorrow, that's OK. I'm already a winner, years ahead of the game." Well, Mr. Quinn lived another 3 years, and when he did die, it wasn't from heart failure, but from an entirely unrelated ailment that had been diagnosed 17 years earlier. If you want to regain or maintain your good health, I strongly recommend that you read his book, 'LEFT FOR DEAD.' Also read 'WORLD WITHOUT CANCER' by G. Edward Griffin; 'ALIVE AND WELL' by Dr. Philip Binzel, Jr.; and 'YOUR BODY'S MANY CRIES FOR WATER' by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj. If you want to preserve your youthful appearance, I recommend imbibing copious amounts of cheap wine, gin, sake, and suds. But substitute Lecithin if you want to preserve your liver, too!

Enlightening, sobering and challenging!,
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
This title caught my eye while on a search for another book called "The Cure For All Cancers", an equally challenging book. Especially to the medical profession. I am pleased that the authors of both of these books were willing to speak out in regard to the underlying drive in much of our medical world.Having had a heart problem myself, but not to the point of open heart surgery and all its dangers, (I only had angioplasty which I will never risk again)the book really hit home. My cardiologist has urged me to "let him go back in and check", but I think you know my answer. I did do what Mr. Quinn recommended - start taking Cayenne Pepper and garlic NOW - because after nearly 7 years I was having chest pains on exertion. After only a few weeks of taking these items I'm happy to say that those pains are gone. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is at all concerned about their health, and that they can get by all the "brainwashing" and accept what Mr. Quinn says - and follow his recommendations.

GREAT INFORMATION ON CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE!!!!!!!!!,
By
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
To me, this book has 3 extremely good selling points. The first is, Dick Quinn has been through all of this firsthand; he is NOT a bystander. When congestive heart failure happened to him, it was not easy to find any information at ALL on the topic; there's a little more out there now. (But HIS book is one of the good ones out there!!! That's why he wrote his story, to get information out to people!) I find him to be a very admirable man in the way he cares about others who are coming after him! His story of what he went through is an eye opener! Second, the herbs he recommends are healthy to your body; not poisons, as are many pharmaceutical products. Lily of the Valley helps arrythmias (as digitalis does), strengthens the heart muscle, strengthens blood vessels, and helps edema. So besides performing the function of digitalis, it is very good for your circulatory system and your heart. Digitalis, on the other hand, is a poison which collects in your body, is not released, and eventually poisons you. Lily of the Valley is not cumulative, as digitalis is. So which do YOU think sounds better? (Lily of the Valley has gotten a bum rap, which was not deserved. The people who feed you digitalis (a poison) have labeled Lily of the Valley a poison!!! This one is well worth researching the opinions of the herbal masters on, such as Dr. John Christopher. Many herbalists are afraid to say anything good about several herbs (which are all extremely good herbs, by the way) because they have gotten very bad and undeserved press by the FDA. So they are either afraid to come out in support of it (for OBVIOUS reasons) or they don't do research, and just go by what they hear. My father has LIVED on Lily of the Valley for the last few years. He does much better on that than he did on digitalis. Also, sometimes the herbs can be used WITH and reduce the AMOUNT of digitalis needed thus slowing the toxic buildup in the system. Third, he gives a lot of very good researched information. His herb section is very well done, as is the section on drugs. People must always bear in mind that everyone will respond differently to every herb and every medication. Peoples insides are all very different, as are their nutritional requirements. Some of these herbs may work better for you than for Dick Quinn, and some may not work as well. The good thing about it is, as you experiment with the herbs, you are not harming your body as you are when you experiment with different pharmaceutical products. My father, my sister and myself all have fun comparing the results we each have with different herbs. All of us, as well as many of my friends, have had outstanding results with different ones. (See "Biochemical Individuality" by Roger A. Williams for exciting and eyeopening information on the differences in each person.) It is also necessary to research anything you take, as well as the food you eat, to make sure you are giving your body things that are safe for you. When you research pharmaceutical products, do NOT use information from the manufacturers, the FDA, university studies (which are generally funded by pharmaceutical companies) or anyone who is affiliated or associated with them, or with associations who profit from conditions and diseases, in your research. These companies fund studies on drugs (to show how harmless they are) on herbs (to show how useless or harmful they are) and on foods (to show that they are indifferent to the conditions). Look for studies conducted by men of integrity who are looking for cures and who are financially independent of all these types of people, or your results will be just what the companies want them to be. DO NOT TRUST THE FDA! These people have okayed drugs that kill people every day. And they eventually get nice, cushy, WELL-paying jobs with the companies after they leave the agency. It is important that you always take the responsibility of researching herbs before you use them, just in case you have a condition which makes it unwise for you to take a certain one. Pregnant women must be especially careful. Get good herb handbooks, such as the ones by Humberto Santillo, Jack Ritchason, Louise Tenney and John Christopher. If you can find a good naturopath, osteopath, herbalist or doctor who will work with you, you are extremely lucky. We have had to do all our research and experiments on our own, just as Dick Quinn did. But we were luckier than he was. We had this wonderful book as a guide. (Not to MENTION Amazon.com!!!) This book is just as timely today as when it was written in 1992. I also recommend Dick Quinn's sequel--"Death by Deception." QUESTION OF THE DAY! Since the prognosis given by doctors for patients with congestive heart failure is death within 5 years (and usually much sooner) could that be because of the buildup of the digitalis? Is that how long it takes the stuff to reach the level where it will destroy a body?

A Good Anti-Establishment Do-It-Yourself Health Book,
By
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
This book digs up the dirt on the medical establishment saying that heart surgery can nearly kill you and do you no good in the end, all done with a whopping price-tag. Drugs are favored over herbs since they can be patented and sold to patients for great profits. Dick Quinn gives his personal testimony about nearly dying from heart surgery, but finally getting well by taking Cayenne, Garlic, Onion and other herbs, but mainly Cayenne. He scoured the earth looking for the hottest Cayenne he could find to burn his insides out! But no matter how much it burns, it's all good for you. He started his own herb company servicing mainly heart conditions which had a lot of loyal customers until the FDA... shut him down because his cure was effective and cheap, and the medical establishment did not profit. I ran out and bought some Cayenne and popped several daily. I really didn't get the energy boost he got, but I suppose they're helping. The book tells his story first, then describes some herbs secondly, and then ends with the disadvantages of heart surgery. There are sage quotes about the medical establishment and goodness of healing herbs throughout the book from distinguished men. The book seems somewhat disjointed as it goes into its different, but inter-related parts written by different authors. Quinn's story is short, skims the surface, and has some drama, but certainly is not a candidate for an Oscar winning movie. The writing style is direct, conversational, and informative and skips all literary flourishes to get the news out that herbs can heal. I found particularly interesting that drugs like aspirin merely synthetically imitate the healing effects of herbs, such as aspirin being derived from Willow Bark.

A Great Alternative!,
By JANET M. CAPLE (North Carolina, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
I found this book most enlighting! I also found it most useful. It has lowered my sisters blood pressure, and given her alot more energy. Iuse the info in this book a well. And, I find that I have more energy, too. I don't know if Mr. Quinn is dead or not. But, I do know that he was alive a couple of years ago, which made him close to if not 60, which is about 21 yrs. longer than any of his male relitives including his father lived! It is a quick and easy read. I think alot of people will be helped by applying the info in this book.

Left for Dead,
By
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
This book was very good. The author was very thorough in his explanation of his regimine. I found it to be a very informative book. My husband and I and several friends have been doing the Lecithin and the Cayenne for about a month, and our cholesterol has dropped several points. Mine went from 241 down to 174 in less than three weeks. My doctor was amazed at the results.

It saved me from Heart surgery,
By A Customer
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
My wife was given $100 gift voucher to go and see a psychic for xmas. The psychic without knowing either of us, asked my wife if I was having problems with my heart, to which she told her that I was,and that I had just been diagnosed with a bloked uppper left aorta. She told my wife that I should read this book. Now Im glad to say I did. Before reading this book it was an effort to climb 10 steps. Now I run 13km 3 to 4 times a week and try to get in a couple of days surfing. So I'd have to say I owe this resurgence of life to R F Quinn. Thank you.

A great book about alternatives to heart bypass surgery,
By A Customer
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
About a man who put all his faith in his doctors after having a heart attack. He was pressured into bypass surgery which failed. After being struck by recurring bouts of blindness, weakness, and fainting, he complained to the surgeon who had promised he'd be "good as new." He wasn't. he knew he was dying and felt "Left For Dead." One day, he was approached by a lady who saw him suffering at the beach, and suggested he take an herb available for 79¢ at a local grocery store. The author scoffed at this "herbal nutcase," but weeks later, in a state of complete desperation, he tried two small capsules of the herb. Within a few hours he felt an immediate recovery. His energy, sexual drive and ambition returned. According to the Author, anyone who takes this harmless herb can feel the benefits within a few days -- if not immediately. In addition, the author claims that this herb can actually stop a heart attack in progress, and is completely harmless except for what the Author calls the "Burning Dumps" during the first few days of treatment. A great and inspiring book. I've given five copies to my friends with heart disease. Most have claimed positive results, although a few feel that the Author is overly mistrustful of surgeons.

A great book about taking charge of your own health and life,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Left for Dead (Paperback)
I too was "left for dead" by my doctors with serious cardiac and respiratory problems at age 45. This book gave me a roadmap and the courage to take charge of my health and life. I quit all artificial drugs and went onto a pure herbal treatment. I am still in the throws of getting better, but this book encouraged me to start on the path. I too am skeptical of doctors and Dick Quinn's book gave me the incentive to strike out on my own. The book is well written, with a good sense of humor, a quick read and very informative about the herbs needed to treat various conditions.
