Great rocking blues, February 17, 2003
This review is from: Left Hand Brand (Audio CD)
The 3 Gales brothers all play great guitar, truly a talented family. Manuel Gales took the name Little Jimmy, in honor of Jimi Hendrix. He was then "adopted" as the grandson of the late Albert King, and took the name Little Jimmy King. Obviously Albert also thought he could play. The album immediately punches into "Fight the power" and best illustrates the strength of the sounds: the inter-play between the three 'lead' guitars with greating rocking blues rhythms. 'Hand me down' also is powerful, with each player describing the progress of an old guitar handed on from father to son to brother etc and then playing their own licks. The other standouts are 'Somethin's got a hold on me' a more bluey track mixed with with great pyrotechnics, "House of blues", "Sign of the times" and "Talking in your sleep". I recommend the album if you like your blues uptempo with lots of guitar. If you like this album, you will probably also like Little Jimmy King's 'Something Inside of Me'.

GREAT BLUES GUITARS, July 24, 2003
This review is from: Left Hand Brand (Audio CD)
If you like the BLUES and the GUITAR, this is a no brainer. Every GALES brother is great in his own right, but together they are dynamite. I have been a fan of ERIC's for a number of years and this is as good or better. All 3 are great guitarists and this is an outstanding BLUES CD. BUY IT NOW!!!

If you like blues, rock or Jimi, get this now., May 17, 2010
This review is from: Left Hand Brand (Audio CD)
The first time I got this CD, I was at B.B King's club in Memphis, Tn recording a show for my friend Khari Wynn (a VERY good guitar player in his own right - Look him up!). I found out he was sitting in that night, so I decided to drop in. Little did I know at the time that this would be one of the most memorable moments of my life. I remember this very distinctly. I walked in the door, and as soon as I walked in I heard the most devastating blues I have ever heard in my entire life. Who was THIS GUY on stage? It was none other than Little Jimi King himself! Needless to say, I was absolutely awestruck. If you could imagine a futuristic Albert King from outer space, that would sum up Little Jimi King in a nutshell. I believe that this may be the VERY last show Little Jimi King ever played before he died (about 2 weeks later). Before I left, I bought this CD straight from Little Jimi himself! I will never forget this night, and I believe that myself and Khari Wynn are the only two people in the world with this footage. One of these days I will post this to youtube for everyone to enjoy!
I fully recommend this CD to anyone that loves the blues or rock. Are you an Albert King fan? You will love this CD! Jimi Hendrix fan? You'll love it too! The CD is simply awesome from start to finish. Not a filler track on the whole thing! I kid you not - I played this CD *EVERY* day until I wore it out. It is that good. Please support *real* musicians and take a chance on this one. If you are a fan of real music, I promise you that you will not be disappointed! I especially recommend "You Don't Love Me", "Rockin Horse Ride", and "Somebody."
