I'm not sure if the people that are giving this song one or two stars have even listened to the song. Serj Tankian has a very distinct style of poetic writing and lyrical phrasing. Like a lot of musicians, he has his own political/religious views he expresses in his music. This is true from the very first System of a Down album to his most recent work. Personally, I don't care what his (or other songwriter's I like) beliefs/stance on issues is as long as they are knowledgeable and sincere about the topics they sing about. If you liked Elect the Dead, there is no reason not to at least give his upcoming album a chance by listening to this song for FREE.

I've been a huge System of a Down fan and I think Serj Tankian has a creative way of expressing himself and his music. Yes, it's different, but I love it! I have an eclectic taste is music and Serj always offers me the outlet I am looking for. High fives for the free download! Serj is just keeping it real! :o)

Personally, I really love his music, and am more than glad to DL this as-well. It seems to me its a bit different than most of his stuff, a little less screechy, but still seems to have the same feeling, and sub-message to it. Would like to say the more I hear it, the more I like it.

5/5 Love it.

Well, to be fair, this type of music is not for everyone. I don't see my grandmother or my mother listening to this style of music. I on the other hand, the younger generation (not too young), liked it, although only melodically, specifically the chorus of the song. You know, the empire vampire part.

Knowing the fray in which Tankian arises, which is alway anti-establishment, and it could be of any kind, be it government (all kinds), religions (all kinds), etc, I expected such words as, "Are we a fantasy? swimming in theocracy" alluring to some of his own fatasies, that maybe the USA is a kind of theocracy, which it is not, but that's beyond the point. And other lines like, "Fighting your empires defending your vampires" and "Bombing your ignorance we're feeding your insolence" as if he and a very few others have some extraordinary insight and the rest of us are being exploited and are exploiting the weak and helpless. This is modern day gnosticism, nothing really new under the sun.

And other pointless babble:

"If today I die I cannot deny
The life that I live
For what I say not befit myself in time
No time to die our dare
No structures of a pyramid
No train, horses to rise
Surmise my position my words define "

So if you want to look beyond the self reflective (as to Tankian) lyrics and just enjoy the melodic harmonies, I would say this is a good song. BUT and it's a BIG BUT, if you do take lyrics seriously, and I do because in time we start to believe what we hear and say, especially if it is delivered with beautiful harmonies, then stay far away from any Tankian music unless he has recanted of his delusional hype and starts writing lyrics with substance.

That's my two-cents. ;-)
