4.0 out of 5 stars Overall nice, a little rough in spots.
I gave this can opener to my left-handed, red-color-loving mother and she really likes it.

I knocked a star off because when the can opener arrived there were some burrs near the handle one twists to operate the opener. I had to take a file and remove the burrs to avoid cuts while using. I (and you too!) should not have had to do this.

The fundamental problem with this product is that it is not sturdy enough to do the job. Instead of working easily, the two parts spread apart and the cutter doesn't completely cut into the lid. The fundamental problem with this product is that it is not sturdy enough to do the job. Instead of working easily, the two parts spread apart and the cutter doesn't completely cut into the lid. Result: can is not fully open. Heavier gauge metal in the two major parts would solve the problem for a few cents more per item. Tilting the handle down can help minimize the problem but it shouldn't take special skills or body English to operate a simple can opener.

After modifications - no further issues.

Every lefty knows that the world is right-handed, and life is a constant compromise and struggle. This product makes life a little easier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Low quality, May 31, 2009

This can opener is of pretty low quality. The knob mechanism is very hard to turn when opening a can. I bought these for my left handed father, and he prefers using a good quality right hand opener over these.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low Quality, November 19, 2010

This can opener is very hard to use. My Left-handed son was not able to open a can with it. I am ambidextrous, so I gave it a try with no luck either. It was easier to teach him how to use the electric can opener.

4.0 out of 5 stars kitchen tools needed for hurricane times, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Left-handed Can Opener, True Left Hand Kitchen Product
Haven't had a hurricane evacuation since we got this, but it will be handy when we do, and the power is off, again. Not sure if I can use a lefty opener, as I've always had to use ones for "righties", but I'll sure try.
