"Get Down River" performed live, by the Bottle Rockets

“Before the Drive-By Truckers got in gear, when Ryan Adams was still settling in Whiskeytown, the Bottle Rockets were setting off musical M-80s as perhaps the most underappreciated roots-rock/Americana band of the mid-‘90s.” -REUTERS/HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

“If Uncle Tupelo is the Beatles of the alt-country movement, the Bottle Rockets are certainly the Rolling ... Read more in Amazon's Bottle Rockets Store

Editorial Reviews

Festus, Missouri's Bottle Rockets have been making some of the best Creedence/Mellencamp-style rock in America (where else?) since their 1993 debut. This EP, their fourth record, collects tunes that didn't make it on its predecessor, 24 Hours a Day. It's a testament to frontman and main songwriter Brian Henneman's talent that the standouts--including "Get Down River," a flood victim's quiet plea; the bluesy blast "If Walls Could Talk"; and "Financing His Romance," the tale of a guy in love with a bar owner's waitress girlfriend--are about as good as anything they've released in the past. --Rickey Wright

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Odds and Ends Collection July 12, 2004
Format:Audio CD
Some fine rock and roll here, as usual. Coffee Monkey is my favorite pick, but I was a true coffee addict at the time. Recommended for any Bottle Rockets fan!

I liked this CD alright. Not really their best work, but still pretty good. Still glad I bought it. Thanks

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Bottle Rockets album by far. August 30, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Filled with poignant songs of Americana, "Leftovers" should be a 8 course meal. From the catchy caffinated rock of "Coffee Monkey" to the love lost in "Financing His Romance" or "Get Down River," Brian Henneman and mates craft an excellent album that should be given a thourough listen too. From fans of Wilco and fans of Country, this album should hold a place in your CD collection and in your songbook for around campfires on warm summer nights.

you need to buy this just for coffee monkey...that song rules...this album is more country than 24 hours a day, but still a good one. only a few songs, the only down part.
