This book has something rare in most fantasy and supernatural books - a unique system of magic. And while that magic is rooted in ancient days, it translates into abilities well suited to and as needed in the modern era. The story is gripping, well paced, and intriguing, and the characters memorable. Cannot recommend it enough.

"The Legacy" contains brilliant imagery, three-dimensional characters and an original mythos that is a richly woven tapestry of story-telling. The mystery behind Galen's illness and Rob's injuries in the past come to light in an exciting conclusion that has the reader on the edge of her seat. Through the darkness that plagues the Emrys in their struggle to defeat the Ancient Evil, the love of a strong brother bond shines through. Once you start reading - it's impossible to stop turning pages until you reach the final scene.

If you are familiar with Muffy's stories published on a fan site, you know that she researches her subject, loves cliffhangers at the end of chapters, likes to write flashback scenes, is a Master herbalist and can write dark stories. This book contains all of that and more.
I bought this book because Muffy wrote it. If I had been able to glance through the book at a store, I would have known that some scenes and subject matter would have been to intense and dark for me to enjoy reading this book. I'm not trying to give away any of the plot, but if you have trouble reading about children being used in sacrificial rituals than this book might not be for you.
This review is partial unfair, as I had to quit reading the book twice, before I just went to the end to see who survived and if the 'evil' won or not.
Muffy is an excellent writer, but even on the fan site, I have not read a couple of her stories due to subject matter, so I wish I had known a little more about this book.
That is why I decided to leave a review, just so the next person has a little more information.
It was hard for me to rate this book, because I couldn't read the whole story.
