I was extremely impressed with this film! Not only is Idris' performance awesome, but all the characters give great performances. Don't be fooled by the "terrorist" theme on the poster - this is a definite must see for psychological-thriller fans. The story is mind-bending and some scenes, while not for the squirmish, are unforgettable. Highly recommended!!

This movie only had a very limited release in the United States. I was one of very few who had the chance to see this excellent movie in theatres. This movie had so many twist and turns that you are unsure of what is actually real until the very end. Idris Elba's performance in this film was phenomenal! Without giving away the plot, this movie will keep you guessing and poised on the end of your seat until the end.

Legacy is the second film from up and coming director/writer Thomas Ikimi and serves as further evidence that this young man is sure to be a source of great films in the near future.

This time he is armed with a stellar cast (Idris Elba is excellent and gives a most harrowing and unique performance), a dedicated crew and far less of the creative restrictions he experienced while making his micro budget first film, Limbo.

This is a dark and tense psychological thriller with a strong focus on the psychology so that the viewer must constantly question themselves throughout the complex plot. We are left often doubting our own conclusions just as quickly as we became certain of them.

I had a few gripes with the casting and thought that Clarke Peters was slightly out of place portraying a covert and deadly Black ops soldier. Also Monique Gabriela Curnen (who nevertheless gives a good performance) didn't quite feel the right choice for her role as Idris' past love interest. It's not all bad though as Eamonn Walker, Joe Holt and Lara Pulver were all excellently cast resulting in some particularly gripping scenes whenever they shared the screen with Idris Elba.

All in all this is a thinking person's film, don't let Idris Elba's all action persona falsely paint your expectations of what this film is about. If you like The Jacket, Jacob's Ladder or Open Your Eyes (Abre los ojos) then you should appreciate and enjoy this film. This Legacy will leave you with questions, but are you sharp enough to decipher the answers?

For a film with a smaller budget it is excellent. Fans of The Wire will be pleased to see Idris Elba in a challenging role. Fans of Batman Begins/The Dark Knight, will recognize Joe Chill and Detective Ramirez. Eamonn Walker plays a sympathetic antagonist and brother to Idris Elba.

The film itself takes place after a failed mission and Malcom Gray (Idris Elba) holds up in a dingy apartment alone. As the film proceeds it becomes clear that not everything is what it seems. For a low budget psychological thriller, there is quite a lot of action. It reminds me of Taxi Driver.

Sadly, I think this movie is destined to be under-rated and under- appreciated. Give it a chance, you won't be disappointed.

THIS MOVIE WAS INTENSE FROM BEGINNING TO END. LOVED THE WAY THE WRITER IKIMI INTRODUCED HIS CHARACTERS USING NEWSPAPER HEADLINES...VERY CREATIVE. AT ONE POINT, IDRIS HAD ME QUESTIONING MY OWN SANITY. (LOL) IF YOU'RE A FAN OF IDRIS, DO YOURSELF A BIG FAVOR AND WATCH THIS FILM. THE MAN IS A BRILLANT ACTOR AND HIS DEDICATION TO HIS WORK COMES ACROSS IN EVERY SCENE. SURE WE WILL BE SEEING MUCH MORE FROM THOMAS IKIMI.

JOB WELL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not easy to watch, sometimes confusing but Indiris' performance is captivating. Became fascinated with the actor in the series 'Luther' and wanted to see how his ability transferred to another character. He's excellent but I didn't care for the story in this movie

Having become a severe fan of Idris Elba's acting skills from the brilliant BBC series "Luther" and from reading the glowing reviews herein, I eagerly purchased "Legacy" which is a wonderfully intense film on one (1) disc running an hour and one-half. In "Legacy" the audience gets to see the complete emotional "melt down" of Malcolm Grey (fabulously acted by Idris Elba). This film is marvelously directed and although there are other actors/actresses in the film, to me it really is all Elba's show--he truly deserved an Academy Award for his performance as a tormented former "special forces" soldier that performed ruthlessly and bravely while caring out some heinous duties and suffering extreme torture and presently is in hiding because of narrow escape with his life from a failed secret mission to catch Terrorist and now is more or less forgotten while he views his brother on TV receiving accolades while running for president . "Legacy" is truly a very emotionally drainng psychological thriller that will keep you awake nights thinking about it.

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch Legacy and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this little film.

The budget was small and it shows in a couple of scenes, but the director did a fine job of creating a movie that 99% of the time felt like it had the scope of a bigger picture, and yes, all from the confines of a couple small locations. A director without a good eye easily could have ruined the torture and action scenes when having to work around such a low budget, but Ikimi executed them like a pro.

When it comes to low budget films, the thing that normally suffers is the acting because the production can not afford to hire quality actors. I have no idea how Ikimi got Idris Elba on board, and anyone who has seen The Wire already knows he is an acting powerhouse, but even the supporting cast, well known or not, gave great performances. I don't know if Ikimi is just that good at pulling great performances out of his cast, or if he just lucked out. Either way, you can't fault Legacy for any of its performances.

The biggest complaint I've heard about the film is the story. Maybe it wasn't the most exciting thing ever, but it held my attention.

Things I didn't like:

There is a strangulation in the opening scene that wasn't too convincing.

The ending felt a little rushed. Another viewing may change my mind, but I felt there could have been another 10 minutes in there. Regardless of me finding it rushed, I thought it was pretty tense. I guess I just wanted it to last a little longer. That is maybe my one complaint about the script.

Overall I'd give Legacy a 7/10, and I can't wait to see what Ikimi does next, hopefully with a larger budget to let him roam.
