5.0 out of 5 stars Legacy
I have read this book several times and never tire of it. Lots of adventure and romance that I can recommend to my teen youth group. Easy reading that allows a quick escape from the present, but watch out! You may not want to come back!! Can't wait to get more of this series and other Al Lacy books.

3.0 out of 5 stars An action-packed shoot-em-up with a moral undertone.
This book is great for readers who prefer small, vignette-style stories within a novel, rather than a long, drawn-out, well explored single storyline. Although some out-of-place wording was distracting (in a story set just after the Civil War, dialogue concerning another character's "big ego" is a bit premature, as "ego" is a twentieth century...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Western, June 13, 2002
This book was better than I expected it to be. The initial western action was well developed and explosive. True, the Stranger turned into a bit of a superhero, dodging bullets and beating thugs, but it was kept as plausible as possible. I was surprised and a bit pleased that Lacy didn't shy away from the Western violence.

My only complaint was Breanna's constant reference to 'the man she loved'. One mention is necessary, two is allowable, but 10 times is getting a bit redundent.

Other than that, a better than normal Christian Western.

Any Christian or just anyone would love this book. This series is thrilling it keeps you on the edge of your seat untill the last page and leaves you begging for more. This portrayal of a mysteious man from the old west keeps you hooked as he moves from one danger to the next. Who is he? Read the book and find out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this one, August 26, 2009
I read this book years ago, but didn't know the title...I'm so glad I found it again since I'd wanted it for so long. It was just as good as I remembered it to be. I'm not quite as thrilled with it's sequel, but this one is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Lagacy" & I am Honored with Al Lacy's Stand for GOD!!, November 24, 2008
I have enjoyed Al Lacy's books for several years. I am Dyslexic so I get most of my books on tape. However, this series is so good I am buying copies for my church library. Al Lacy uses his caricature so well that to serve our Lord and savior that I am left happy and content. Real live sometimes is not always like this, but God can do anything!!

This book is great for readers who prefer small, vignette-style stories within a novel, rather than a long, drawn-out, well explored single storyline. Although some out-of-place wording was distracting (in a story set just after the Civil War, dialogue concerning another character's "big ego" is a bit premature, as "ego" is a twentieth century word), the storyline moves along at a fairly quick pace. Written so that the reader is given the point of view of both heroine Breanna Baylor and hero John Stranger, this book contains equal amounts of action and romance. Set on a foundation of solid Christian morals, it is sure to be enjoyed by the portion of the population that needs a little adrenaline kick with appropriate thought-provoking life-lessons attached.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!, June 10, 1998

Normally, I just about can't stand to read books. You know, too many other things to do. With Al Lacy's "Journey of the Stranger" series and "Angel of Mercy" series, when I finish a book, I am not ready to stop reading yet. It's as though I suffer from 'Lacy Withdrawl' when I don't have another Al Lacy book ready to read. I can sit down and read his books for hours.
