Very Pleasantly Surprised!!,
By Bridges "Bridges" (Long Island, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Legacy Lane (Harts Crossing, Book 1) (Hardcover)
Upon browsing through the library, looking for something new with "substance," the beauty of the cover on Legacy Lane caught my eye. Glancing through it, I thought it might be a little too bland. It turned out, however, to be a book that I've since recommended to many friends. Yes, it was predictable -- but isn't that refreshing in today's world? There's no complex sub-plot, no violence, no intrigue ... just a plain, uncomplicated, enjoyable story -- with a happy ending!! It really draws you into a peaceful place, and you feel surrounded by genuinely good, God-loving people. At the end, you just wish your "visit" could have lasted longer.

A sweet, fast read...,
By Huntress Reviews (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Legacy Lane (Harts Crossing, Book 1) (Hardcover)
Angie never wanted to spend more than a few days at home in the small town where she grew up. She thought hiring a nurse to care for her invalid mother after surgery would suffice, but a trick of fate changes her plans. Passed over for a promotion she busted her butt to earn, she quits and heads back to do the nursing herself, never imagining it would be she who would be healed. Angie's return answers her mothers prayers and brings the older woman hope that she'll be able to help save her wayward child's soul. Angie might be resistant, but prayers and love are a tough combination to fight. *** Legacy Lane is a sweet, affirming, and fast read. It will give hope to anyone who has had a tough evangelism nut to crack. Ms Hatcher has succeeded in transitioning from secular to Christian writing without watering down her story. *** Amanda Killgore for Huntress Reviews.

The true meaning of legacy,
By A Customer
This review is from: Legacy Lane (Harts Crossing, Book 1) (Hardcover)
Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors. Her books always grab you by the heart, and this one is no exception. If there is someone in your family searching for faith in Christ, this book is an absolute roadmap! Yet, it's a fun, lighthearted read with a "Mitford" feel to it. I feel like the characters have already become my friends and I'm anxious for the other books in the series to come out.

Legacy Lane - Wish I lived there!,
By Tamera Alexander "Tamera" (Nashville, TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Legacy Lane (Harts Crossing, Book 1) (Hardcover)
Legacy Lane is a heartwarming story about returning home. It explores the struggles that come with returning to a once familiar place, all while feeling as though you're a stranger to what you once knew. The mother daughter relationship portrayed in the story sparks with realism and wit, and the thread of romance gently woven through keeps you turning the pages. I also loved the names of the characters! Wonderfully creative! A GREAT gift for a mother, daughter or sister -- or for anyone in need of finding their way back home again.

A frothy introduction to a series,

Robin Lee Hatcher's new novel, LEGACY LANE, is part of a series she calls "Hart's Crossing" after the Idaho town in which they're set (Hatcher herself lives near Boise).
Angie Hunter has a picture-perfect home to which she's returning after years as a high-powered West Coast newspaper reporter. Angie is returning home to help her mother, Francine, recuperate after knee surgery, but she hasn't yet told her mother that she's also trying to decide what to do next with her life, having quit her job. Meanwhile, Angie finds that there's plenty of pressure on her to return home permanently, from the cranky encouragement of her childhood friend and busy married mom, Terry, to the warm interest of high-school crush and editor of the local paper, Bill Palmer, who is a committed Christian. Her mother's friends from quilting club are also eager to see their dear friend Francine have her beloved daughter safe at home again. There aren't any surprises here: while Angie hasn't exactly jumped a pew by the story's end, she has certainly begun to see that the faith making so many people around her content and whole might have something in it for her, too. But while there aren't any surprises here, I found myself wondering what Hatcher has planned for the other three "Hart's Crossing" volumes --- and that's probably what she had in mind all along. LEGACY LANE may be slight and light, but so is meringue --- and sometimes meringue hits the spot. Hatcher fans will be happy to begin their "Hart's Crossing" collection with this frothy introduction. One quick note here: It seems clear just from a glance at the quaint painting on the dustjacket that these books will appeal to people who enjoy collecting books because of their dustjacket paintings. LEGACY LANE sports a portrait of a darling gingerbread-trimmed home surrounded by carefully tended flowering plants --- just the sort of place that people dream about when they think of popular-culture conceptions of home à la Thomas Kinkade's paintings. --- Reviewed by Bethanne Kelly Patrick

This novella is a classic Robin Lee Hatcher story. The characters quickly become your friends. You want to linger with them, and you care about their futures. I am eagerly looking forward to reading more about the citizens of Hart's Crossing.

Absolutely a delight!,

I am a huge fan of Ms. Hatcher's writing, so I waited anxiously for this book to come out, just like I do all of her books. I was excited when I got my copy earlier than anticipated. Lucky me! Ms. Hatcher definitely delivered a joy of a story in Legacy Lane. This book was a delight from start to finish. Heartwarming, full of hope, filled with Scriptural truth, and containing just a dab of romance, too. I fell in love with Hart's Crossing and its citizens, and I can't wait to return there with the next book. My only complaint is that the rest of the series won't be coming out faster than scheduled (as shown in the back of the book). But because this is a shorter book, you won't mind reading the first one now and then reading it again when the next one in the series comes out. In fact, it's so good, I'd recommend reading it more than once.

a repeat?,
By
This review is from: Legacy Lane (Harts Crossing, Book 1) (Hardcover)
This second book in the series is such a repeat of the first one I thought I may have mixed things up. I hadn't and except for a few changes I really felt it was a reread. Still sweet, but lets have some interaction with previous characters or something to mix things up a little.
