5.0 out of 5 stars SEXY, SEXY, SEXY!!!, August 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
I'm looking for Sage Bristo!!!! I'm spoiled now. I am wishing I had a woman who would talk to me like that! Realistically, when I feel the need I guess I'll have to read Legacy again. First, though, I'm waiting impatiently to get my hands on the sequel Never Ending.

But to say only that Legacy of Love and the main character is sexy doesn't do the author justice. Marianne Martin is a fine writer and this book I hesitate to call merely a romance. Martin moves her readers quickly through a gamut of emotions with bright dialogue and just the right amount of tension. She has a writing style that keeps you reading hungrily and characters you won't forget.

I am about to devour her other two books, Love in the Balance and Dawn of the Dance, while I'm waiting. Marianne Martin is now at the top of my 'must read' list.

5.0 out of 5 stars AT LAST, March 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
Yes, finally! A main character that's all of that-succesful, lesbian, and Native American! And not only that. She is developed in a wonderfully well-written tale of love. As a Native American I have suffered for years without a heroine I can claim. Martin has written me a treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Judge a Book By Its Cover..., August 8, 2005

Sage Bristo's grandmother recently died and left her a good sum of money. However, her homophobic father kept the will tied up in court, trying to discredit her grandmother and keep the money for himself. A final decision from the judge lets the will stand. Sage uses the money to establish a trust fund for Seneca girls and to build a retirement community in Michigan in memory of her NaNan.

Sage already has a reputation as a "Don Juanita" among her friends in New York. The rep follows her when she moves to Michigan and she does little to dispell it. One night, a few months after she moves in, she meets Deanne. Sage is immediately attracted to Deanne and repeatedly tries to get a date. Their friends also think they would make an attractive couple. However, Deanne knows Sage's reputation and isn't willing to get involved.

Through a series of events things finally work out, and both women do a lot of maturing as their love does the same. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. In fact, I started it when my plane took off, was almost done when we landed three hours later, and sat in the airport to finish.

The characters have depth, the story is plausible, and women like this do exist. I'm looking for the sequel 'Never Ending,' but will probably have to wait until it is re-released in Feb-06. Until then... I have other Martin books to read. This one doesn't disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooks & Jabs, August 2, 2006
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
Oh, yeah! The sparring between Sage and Deanne is so worth the price of admission. I loved the rejection on page 83. Martin's a master at setting it up with the little jabs and delivering that right hook. Loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book!Like the romance and the characters., March 7, 2006
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
I really liked Sage's character and how she deals with her father and what happened in her childhood and Deanne tries to deny her feelings for Sage and the romance between these two women.I also bought this book b/c it deals with Sage being Native American but I wish there were books out there for lesbian Blackfoots.I am planning on getting Never Ending(the sequel to Legacy of Love).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful story filled with complex characters - not to be missed, August 14, 2005
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this novel and am looking forward to reading more of the people in the story in the upcoming re-issue of 'Never Ending' in February 2006. Although not necessary I would recommend reading the authors' novel 'Love in the Balance' first as it has some of the same secondary characters, and one of the main characters also makes an appearance.

I was totally intrigued by Sage Bristo in the opening chapters. I loved her relationship with her sister. I really didn't think she had a chance with Deanne. They had many walls to overcome, within themselves and with each other. It was great getting to know Deanne and what motivated her. Sage for all her charm makes a couple mistakes when romancing Deanne and you are never sure they will make a couple. Don't miss this story and hang on to it to read again, I did, and got a deeper understanding of both characters the second read.

Book Description
What was it about Sage Bristo that drew women to her? Maybe it was the tall, toned body and androgynous good looks. Perhaps they liked her confidence -- her movements and manner so sure and decisive. Or was it the air of mystery, the temptation of a challenge to unravel? Sage couldn't explain the attraction, but she had certainly benefited from it, at least physically. Women would do anything for her. But never the woman she needed the most -- the one woman who could lead her through the realm of desire, to the one thing she desires most. . .In this Revised Author's Edition of Legacy of Love, Marianne K. Martin tells us the complete story of Sage Bristo and the mystery that surrounds her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legacy of Love, June 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Legacy of Love (Paperback)
Because this author is one of my favorites, I give this book 5 stars without the benefit of reading it!! I have read all but one of Marianne's titles available on Kindle and cannot believe that this book is NOT availble as an e-book on Kindle. I have purchased Never Ending (the sequel to Legacy of Love) but don't want to read it until I've read Legacy of Love.

So, how about it Marianne and Amazon?? What's the hold up?? Make this book available on Kindle.......please! An actual review will be forthcoming when I'm able to read it! Anyone else out there feel the same??

Thought I'd share with you all. Legacy of Love will be available as an e-book in Feb. 2012 from Bywater Pub. Co. Not sure if Amazon will get it then, but should be avail. soon after! Good news.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will Satisfy, November 30, 2003

I read the Author's Revised Edition, published in 2003. I don't know what's missing out of the previous edition. Probably some of the sex, which is steamy and occurs often. I generally prefer mystery romances but this book was a nice change of pace. I especially recommend it if you are looking for a Harlequin-type story.
