Book Description

Private February 5, 2008
The price of power...

After Cheyenne Martin's death, everyone at Easton Academy is struggling to recover from yet another tragedy--especially the girls of Billings Hall. With Cheyenne gone, they need to elect a new leader. And who better than Reed Brennan, the ultimate Billings Girls?

As the new Billings president, Reed suddenly has access to power she never imagined. Gossip is reported to her immediately, she has first dibs on everything from dining tables to dorm rooms, and Billings's most powerful alumnae are at her beck and call. So when Easton's students discover they're the only prep school on the East Coast not invited to this year's all-inclusive Legacy party, everyone turns to Reed to get them back on the list.

Reed is the most powerful girl at Easton.

She revels in her newfound status, but knows better than anyone that the Bilings leaders have a tainted legacy: Ariana was institutionalized, Noelle was expelled, and Cheyenne just died. History has a way of repeating itself at Easton, and now that Reed has everything she's ever wanted, she has everything to lose.

More About the Author

I am a total Jersey girl. I grew up in Bergen County, went to Rutgers University, lived in Hoboken for a year (requisite post-college party time) and then moved back to Bergen, got married, and bought a house ten minutes from where I grew up. I graduated from Rutgers with a double major in English and Journalism, worked as an Editor for four years, then decided I liked writing better and struck out on my own. You've been reading my books ever since!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brian has outdone herself, February 19, 2008

(REAL NAME)
Easton Academy seems like the place where everyone wants to be. The place where beautiful people congregate to get an education that doesn't just include what you can learn from a book; but, rather, what you can learn from corrupting incoming students, bribing teachers with money, power, and affluence, and, if required, killing someone. But people don't always last at Easton. Noelle is gone. Ariana is gone. Kiran is gone. Taylor is gone. And now, even the perky Cheyenne Martin can no longer be seen traipsing the hallways of Easton. The only one left standing is scholarship student Reed Brennan. But when it comes to Easton, maybe sticking around isn't always the best thing.

Cheyenne Martin's apparent suicide shocked her classmates - especially the ultra-exclusive Billings Girls - and rocked the entire atmosphere surrounding Easton. After all, in just a year, she's the second student to die at the hand of evil, and just one out of many to leave an empty void in the student population. But Cheyenne lived, breathed, and worshipped at the shrine of Easton; hence, dwelling on her death would be exactly the opposite of what she would have wanted - or so everyone is insisting. According to her friends, Cheyenne would have wanted everyone to get on with their lives, and get ready for the Legacy - the social event of the season that anybody who's anybody will be attending. But, oddly enough, the Billings Girls have been left off the invite list, and haven't received invitations to the gala - even though they're sure to be the belles of the ball. And, with Cheyenne out of the picture, Reed is elected as the new Billings president, and the task of finding out who is keeping the Billings Girls away from the Legacy rests solely on her shoulders. The detective work is piling up around her; but with an old friend back in the picture, and enough gossip and dirt on everyone surrounding her; Reed can't help but relish in her newfound position. But now that she has everything she could have ever dreamed of, it's obvious to everyone around her that she has everything to lose. And when it comes to Easton, losing is what it's all about.

I honestly don't know how she does it, but Kate Brian has written yet another amazing installment in the PRIVATE series which does anything but put your mind to rest. Once more, Brian has woven a tale that incorporates fashion, money, glitz, glamour, and gossip into a neat little package; but has eloquently paired it with enough mystery and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat long after the last page is turned. The eeriness that seems to enshroud the characters, along with the entire Easton campus, gives the reader chills up and down their spine; and the somberness that seems to ooze out of each character casts a very dreary tone over the whole tale - but this only intrigues you even more. LEGACY is, quite possibly, the best book in the series to date. Brian has outdone herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars still loving the series, March 20, 2008
I don't think I will ever get tired of the Private series. Legacy is fantastic and quite different from the first few simply because Reed is in charge and is trying to stay sane while being a Noelle. I love Reed's relationship with Josh but am intrigued by her feelings for Dash so I look forward to the next book in the series to see what happens.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, March 15, 2008
Brian has written another amazing book. I'm in love with the Private Series. It is one of my favorite series. It is well written and suspenseful I recommend it for all teen girls. Brian does an amazing job describing the events and the emotions of Reed and other characters. If you haven't read the other books in the series, read them first, it is basically a must to understand this book.
