Book Description

You can’t escape the demons of you past, if you don’t even know who they are.

Alison’s new life has been exactly as she wanted, far away from the bad memories of her childhood, and the college shooting that claimed her best friend. Things are going well. Until an impossible threat from the past, comes crashing into her life.

Nothing could have prepared her for this twist of fate, and before long, she finds herself the subject of an FBI surveillance team designed to entrap whomever it is that has intruded upon her life. But the FBI, has no idea what they are dealing with. There is no profile for this case.

When Alison least expects it, she meets Ryan, a man who seems every bit too good to be true. It’s not a good time for this complication, but she can’t help falling for him. And letting down her guard may be the biggest mistake of her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put this one down! December 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Holy cow! I don't even know/remember where I picked this up, but when my kindle was repaired there it was. I read this in one day. Actually, just a few short hours because it was so intense I couldn't put it down.

Scollins' wove a deeply disturbing story around Alison and her devastating life. How could things get any worse than being the lone survivor of a horrible massacre during your college years? Scollins finds a way.

I'm still processing, but Scollins created characters with depth that I will continue to think about for days. The emotions were raw, real, and very powerful. One of my favorite things about Alison was that as scared as she was, she didn't give up. She could really kick some butt. "Prudence not paranoia" really sums it up, but you'll have to read to understand what I mean by that.

Wow!! What a ride did I took with this book, I loved it...I couldn't put it down because it kept going like the energizer bunny...This story is about Alison, who had a sad childhood and a mother from hell...When she was in college there was a shooting in the dorm room where she was staying with her best friend..Alison was the only one who survive the slaughter and it goes from there...I really love Alison, she was a strong female character...Not one of those weak female characters that always crying and think the world is coming to an end and their always get the guy in the end...I always roll my eyes when I read this kind of female characters..Not Alison she kick a*s..But the hero of the book is her dog Buddy, all I wanted to do was rubbed his tummy and give him dog treats...I do highly recommend this book, is fast pace and you won't get bored..This is my 1st book when it come to Mr.Scollins and he just made a fan out of me...

3.0 out of 5 stars Easy Read April 16, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. Was it a "WOW, I can't put it down book"? Not so much. The characters were well-rounded and believable - some of it was trite - sure - it was too easily tied up and put a bow on it type of ending. I was left wondering what happened that the author so easily wrapped up the story. The story was very formulatic. Too many of the same plot lines, twists, crazy people, that I have read over and over in the last few "thriller" books I've bought. Should you buy this book - sure. It's a good read. A great read - meh. I am not a reviewer that gives away everything in a book - summarizing the whole story - why would someone purchase the book if the reviewer just let you know about the whole story and gives away the ending? Buy this book and decide for yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars Legacy Sinking May 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I rarely put down a book before finishing it, but this one wins the prize. I fear Mr. Scollins was trying so hard to be a fiction writer that he didn't realize how seriously his use of English needed editing.

I must give some examples :

~ "the pistol impregnated purse" ( what would the babies look like !?! tee her )

~ "something to keep her brain from wandering" (gads, a peripatetic brain ?!? ugh )

~ "winter would start to creep into the fold " (fold? What fold? In with the sheep?)

~ "a rush of fright zapped into her spine" ~ "the thrill floored him with delight "

~ "like the aftermath of a hammer strike on a bell, the waves of ringing galloped through her ears and reverberated into her bones.

I do admit that I got some chuckles from this sophomoric , too-eager-to-be flowery prose, but in the end I had to quit the Legacy altogether.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable book October 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed this book. It was full of suspense and a little romance. There were some unfortunately worded phrases, as another reviewer pointed out, but I was able to dismiss that. It did require some suspension of belief regarding the dog, but I still liked the book and would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Mystery, great book, great writing! February 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I chose this book based on the premise the female character was a strong woman with strong convictions and she would win out against overwhelming odds. She didn't disappoint. The ending is how I wanted it to be.

Allison didn't let her past define her, unlike many women that blame their families, bad relationships, and finances.

Don't hesitate, buy this book now, today!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exhuberant!! Wow from the first pages!! June 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
One of my new favorite authors! You can tell from the first few pages the author is skillful, the words weave the pictures in your mind as if you are in the room with the characters drawing you in for one hell of a ride!! I have read several books in the last few weeks (9) and this was my favorite one. The author is a true storyteller, engaging the reader in every emotion as the book reads on. I love it when an author writes as languidly and poetic as this. when the words guide the mind to the exact place and description the writer wants you to see as if you were there to witness the story unfold. A true gifted writer! I look forward to reading more from this writer and will be off now to search for more of anything he has written. His style intrinsic and captivating. Cannot say enough good things about the book. Read it you will enjoy the Ride!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not For Me
This wasn't for me. I deleted this from my Kindle library because reading it left me less time to read many other books I'm excited about to read like The Goldfinch and Dollface.
