Worth it for closure...,

It has taken some time for this book to finally make it into print, and if truth be told, it shows. If you've read the first two novels in Taylor's Gargoyle series, you won't want to miss this one as it answers many questions and provides closure for the main story arc and characters who've been introduced along the way. For me, the best parts of the book were those that included the return of Rachel, Nathan, Teryn, Connor and the brief glimpse of Mara.The rest of the story, including the development of Levi and Tasha as characters along with their relationship was rather a drag. I've been a fan of Vickie Taylor's writing both with this series and in the anthologies (Bite and Demon's Delight), but I don't think she was really feeling the characters on this one. Levi's progression and development became hard to credit mid-book as he continually made choices that seemed lacking in intelligence and common sense. Not only that, as another reviewer noted, he had little regard for his female heroine's input, even when she was the only one who seemed to be thinking clearly. In the end, there's not much about their relationship that feels like "romance". They get their HEA when all is said and done, but again, it required too much suspension of disbelief to make it credible or even satisfying. The reunion with Levi's family probably should have come sooner. I would have liked to see more interaction between him and the 'good guys' - the Chicago congregation of Gargoyles that were the true legacy of his father and his family. But, that was apparently not to be. So, the book itself is probably a 2-star read, but I'm giving it 3 for its place in the series as a whole. (Nathan's and Connor's books are well worth reading.) As it stands, it seems possible that Ms. Taylor could continue this series (the climax with the evil Romanus was somewhat open-ended). I'd certainly give it one more shot based on the strength of her previous work. But an installment this troubled might just end up being dead on arrival. On another note, it seems weird that Amazon is not selling this title in paperback directly? I had no trouble picking up a copy at my local B&N...

This is a 2 star read. And thats sad since I so enjoyed the other gargoyle stories written by Ms Taylor. Legacy of Stone is the story of Levi Tremain and his attempts to discover his heritage and hopefully explain why he can do the things he can. Natasha Cole is the captain of the boat he's been crewing on and his part time lover. For those of you that remember the first story, Levi is the missing brother that Rachel and her husband have been looking for. This was boring to me honestly as evident by the fact that I put it down several times in my attempts to read. And maybe it was because Levi was so blind and bull headed.Possible spoilers below He was willing to believe a complete stranger over a woman that he had known and slept with for two years. A woman that he admitted he completely trusted. When Tasha tells him that Roman is creepy and that they should get away as soon as possible he insist on staying. When he is given evidence that makes Roman look guilty of killing his friends,he still doesnt leave because Roman can give him history and stories of others like him. By the time he sees the light they are in a huge mess and have to fight to escape Roman and Rachel and her friends are injured trying to save them. Another thing that bothered me was the clues to Tasha's possible powers, even by the end I dont think I clearly understood what she was or why she was the way she was. Overalll this just didnt do it for me nor did it hold my attention.

I'm sorry I usally don't write bad reviews. But Levi needs a two x four to the head. He is stupid. I don't know what else to call him.Oh Roman is not evil he's just keeping us here against our will. Levi get headahes when he's with Roman But he's not a bad guy. He tells Tash. The girlfriend tells Levi that Roman's Henchman tried to kill her. Levi makes excuses. Sorry I am rambling But I am so mad how this book is going. Oh for you Kindle readers about 81% in He gets a brain.
