5.0 out of 5 stars Jeeve's early history February 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The first story fills in the details of how Val Con and Shan found Jeeve. I always wanted the details and this tale more than fulfills that background. A must read for all Liaden fans. The second story is an interesting side note to the Korval family history. Well worth the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Liaden Adventures March 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For new readers, this may not be the place to begin in the Liaden series (I recommend Agent of Change or Crystal Soldier). Having said that, the stories are enjoyable on their own and don't require prior information to enjoy. For those who are familiar with the series, they are just as fun and well done as all the others.
Intelligent Design: we get to see how Jeeves, the robot butler, enters the service of Clan Korval.

The Space at Tinsori Light: we introduced to a new character at an earlier time in Korval's history then the main bulk of the series. There is a package that must be delivered and a mysterious space station.

Intelligent Design , a great short story covering how the cousins , Val Con and Shan, while on a Trading voyage with Shan's father Er Thom yos'Galen when they are young teens, found and built Jeeves. The Space at Tinsori Light occurs farther back in the Liaden timeline, occurs at a space station like no other, and involves a Pilot of Korval, one Jen Sin yos'Phelium, and this "haunted" space station. Both are good reads, from the Liaden Universe.

This collection of stories in the Liaden Universe fills holes, fills out characters and provides backstory while being an easy introduction point to the Liaden Universe itself. Lee and Miller are on my always order in hardback and always preorder list. They have never written a book I didn't admire greatly. They seem to collaborate effortlessly and make it look incredibly easy-- it is not. There's lots of skill and professionalism under the hood. This is a great collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good background material May 20, 2013

For any fan of The Liaden Universe this book contains two stories that fill in some background to the main series.
Intelligent Design introduces the yos'Galan AI butler Jeeves & how he came into the household.
The Space at Tinsori Light is from much earlier in Korval history & although interesting hasn't much relevance to the main series. Still a good read

I really enjoy the Liaden stories--had not come across these in hard print and had wondered where Jeeves had originated, this story filled in some gaps.
