Tommy Jarrell is an old-time banjo master. Every track on this disc is a winner. What Tommy plays is so simple, yet so complex and so appealing to the ear. His voice is authentic, and he is such an amazing musician that he gets you with the first song.
My favorite song on the album is Old Reuben, but if you like old-time or bluegrass music, check this album out and decide for yourself! A must for anyone interested in this genre.

He learned to play back when communities had their own musical flavor. The Round Peak sound is unique.

Tommy's Banjo playing is great. Cool tunings, and some fretless stuff. He has a unique way of clawhammer. His singing is real and cuts to the bone because he knows what the songs and life/death are about. Note that this is just banjo playing. If you are looking more for a band type sound, check out picking on the back porch.
