Book Description

PSI Successful Business Library September 1998
As a consultant you will have the power to make your own schedule, work at your own pace, and pursue the clients that will be most beneficial to your business. But protecting yourself from liability is a priority. A Legal Road Map for Consultants will teach you how to maintain a safe and legal enterprise in a clear, easy to understand format. You will learn how to choose a good business lawyer and what kinds of liability you may face. You will also find out how to protect yourself, why you should maintain professional liability insurance, why you should be using consulting contracts, and how the Internal Revenue Service will determine your tax status.

A Legal Road Map for Consultants uses real-life examples to explain these issues, and includes sample consulting and subcontractor agreements. While most guides for consultants focus on generic business laws, this book hones in on what you need to know to maintain a profitable and protected business. It is not a substitute for professional legal advice, merely a clear-cut guide to help you head off potential legal encounters.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I continue to advise that one should seek legal advice. Well, here's the source. Judy Gedge has provided an invaluable resource for consultants..." -- Alan Weiss, Ph.D. Author, Million Dollar Consulting

"Legal icebergs ahead could sink your business deeper than the Titanic! Attorney Judy Gedge shows you where they are, how to avoid them, and how to chart a safer course. Her chapters on oral and written contracts alone could save you a fortune. This book is as essential as a lifeboat. Don't launch your consulting business without it." -- Ken West, Past President, National Speakers Association

This book is a must read for any individual thinking about getting into the consulting game.

The author explains potential liability, and the ins and outs of forming a Corporation, LLC, or LLP without putting you to sleep.

Learn how to protect your assests no matter how small or big they may be. Unlike the many unfinished business books I have bought in the past this book is an easy read and will leave you truly knowing what's important for surviving the consulting business.

This book could easily save you big bucks down the road.
