Book Description

September 24, 2007
The Ball Four of the legal profession, The Legal Lampoon is a practical, must-read humorous guide to the legal profession for any person considering a career in the legal field or wanting to hire an attorney. Richard Icci, a lawyer with more than twenty years experience, addresses and debunks many of the popularly held beliefs and myths about attorneys and their roles, and details how our American system of justice works.

Icci covers such topics as:

  • Types of lawyers
  • Law school experiences
  • Client billings and the mystery of billable hours
  • Myths of great salaries
  • And much more

Written from the perspective of an experienced civil and appellate litigator, The Legal Lampoon satirizes every system related to the practice of law, including legal education and the courtroom process. Down-to-earth and hilarious, The Legal Lampoon is everything you ever wanted to know about the legal profession but didn’t think to ask.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is hilarious!, December 18, 2007

This book is hilarious. It is also very informative about the legal profession. The book really turns the legal profession on its head. I very much enjoyed reading this and would highly recommend it to anyone, particularly any person interested in what the law and lawyers are really like.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Antics of the Legal System, May 6, 2010

This review is from: The Legal Lampoon: A Practical, no-nonsense Guide for anyone interested in becoming or hiring a lawyer (Paperback)
For someone or anyone who knows anything about the legal field this was the best book I have ever read. It was very insightful. I laughed to the point I had tears. I love the part in the book about the Scarlet Harlot. Mr. Icci, did an excellent job of giving brilliant and accurate accounts of just how the legal system works and the hilarious antics that come with working in the legal sysetm. I highly recommend everyone to read this book including Michelle Bachmann. I hope he comes out with a sequel.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lawyer Cynicism, October 13, 2010

Don "Don" (Redondo Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Legal Lampoon: A Practical, no-nonsense Guide for anyone interested in becoming or hiring a lawyer (Paperback)
In my opinion, this offers very little practical value for a non-lawyer. Is mostly aimed at lawyers and their concerns such as a chapter on the bar exam, "entering the profession", and one titled "Client: Friend or Foe" (mostly foe). Humor is very cynical. I returned if after scanning it and realizing it would not help me gain useful insights into dealing with legal matters.
