5.0 out of 5 stars The most accurate and best guide to how to really do it
I have seen the comments of a couple of disappointed readers, but cannot agree with them. The author specifically warns about "buy-a-passport" frauds, so anybody buying this book to find the address of the latest scam artist would be disappointed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Of Little Value
Virtually everything presented in the book could have been easily found on the internet in less time. There was little information as to why someone would want a second passport, and almost no information as to how -- other than by birth or marriage.

I have seen the comments of a couple of disappointed readers, but cannot agree with them. The author specifically warns about "buy-a-passport" frauds, so anybody buying this book to find the address of the latest scam artist would be disappointed.

The author's approach is to show people how to qualify LEGALLY and PROPERLY for a second citizenship, without paying some promoter tens of thousands of dollars, and without jeopardizing one's present citizenship.

The information is as accurate and up-to-date for 1998 as it was when the book was published.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great financial talent, February 8, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Legally Obtain a Second Citizenship and Passport-And Why You Want to (Paperback)
As I said in my book, The Offshore Update, published by Eden Press:

Of all the financial experts who have demonstrated literary talent, Adam Starchild is perhaps the least appreciated. This is unfortunate because Starchild is not only a lucid writer -- he is also a credible and conscientious reporter working in an area that until recently has belonged in the same chapter of financial literature with Fort Knox, Howard Hughes, and the Gnomes of Switzerland

5.0 out of 5 stars It is the most useful book of its kind., October 22, 2000

Why entrust your life and freedom to any one government? With only one passport, you are accountable to politicians who can regard you as an expendable resource. But this need not be the case. With two or more passports you need not "belong" to any one country. You are your own jurisdiction. Your personal and financial independence can be preserved. Your mobility is ensured.

4.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward and useful, May 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: How to Legally Obtain a Second Citizenship and Passport-And Why You Want to (Paperback)
Starchild's book covers all the key concerns about citizenship and what avenues exist for obtaining a second. There are many useful applications for dual-citizenship in business and travel these days as our ever-shrinking world demands greater ease of movement across borders. Chapter 14 covers all the practical second nationalities and how you would go about acquiring them (if you qualify). If you travel a lot, if you need to go places that are "verbotten" for most Americans, if you just won the lotto and hope to shield a portion of it from the IRS, this book should be useful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mostly theory, little practice, June 9, 2003
By A Customer
If you are interested in a long detailed history of the development of citizenship laws and the theories behind them, then this book is for you. If you are actually interested in getting a second passport, I would suggest you look elsewhere. The majority of the book is devoted to theory not practice: You may have a good understanding of how countries determine who is and is not one of them,...

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - not bad - but not great either, May 31, 2003
If you're lucky enough to have a US passport and are looking for another, this book might be for you. However, 80% of the book is filler until you get to the "How to" part for 28 countries. The sad answer is "marriage" for most of them. There's a few countries you can claim citizenship via ancestry (Ireland) or under the Law of Return (Israel, if you're Jewish).

If you are literally trying to "get away from it all", then this book is for you. If not, then take a pass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still very valuable in 2001, September 1, 2001
By A Customer
I followed the suggestions in the book, and found that I was able to obtain an EU (European Union) citizenship in addition to my U.S. citizenship. That made my eligible for consulting assignments in the EU on behalf of my American clients, since I now have the right to work in both areas and don't need a work permit for each European assignment. Dr. Starchild's commonsense and practical advice was well on target, and saved me from the pirates who try to sell second passports on the Internet. I was able to do everything myself through the embassy, at a cost of a few hundred dollars.

5.0 out of 5 stars A second passport?, March 29, 2001
By A Customer
Many countries offer second passports for numerous reasons. Some are offered to children or grand children of nationals who emigrated to other countries, while others are offered to foreign workers and/or investors who bring in specific skills and capital for national economic development. More and more Americans are taking on second passports these days as they offer many benefits and this trend has been growing for quite some time. The second passport can permit you to live and work in another country with a minimum of problems. It can facilitate international travel as well as offer greater opportunities for privacy and freedom abroad. Most importantly, a second passport can offer a greater degree of personal protection because a US passport can make you a target for international terrorists. Remember, the only way to know who is an American or not is by the passport. During the Iranian Hostage Crisis, the Canadian Embassy helped several Americans get out of Iran safely by issuing them Canadian passports. A passport can make all the difference in the world!
