This 59-inch-by-18-inch bookcase says a very hip goodbye to standard right angles with its sweeping contoured edges and whimsical puzzle-like design. The unit comes with four 12-inch-wide shelves and eight position options, spaced 6-3/8 inches apart, for either easy customizing or adding extra shelves (sold separately). Four cutouts in back provide concealed cable management, and an oversized top shelf with a back rail makes a nice display spot. Available in a range of colors, from a sophisticated wheat and ebony combination with ash and oak veneers to fun red and black to green and white or pink and white duos for kids' rooms, this bookcase requires only two minutes to assemble and a few seconds to disassemble. Its compact size also makes it great for all kinds of small-space storage like kitchens and bathrooms. Go ahead--move it around as much as needed! Legaré furniture is backed by a three-year warranty. --Kara Karll

sturdy and well made. A little tough to put together. Although it requires no tools, you sort of need two people because the pieces set together and then stay that way from pressure, but only once it is standing up.

I was looking for a desk and bookcase for my home office when I came across this Legare furniture. I also needed a smaller bookcase for my daughter's room, and this looked to be the ideal fit, since I was looking for something in white to match her room, and the style of this bookcase seemed so much cooler than most. Part of the appeal of this furniture is that you don't need any tools to assemble it. There are also videos showing a kid assembling one of these bookcases in a couple minutes, which I thought was pretty impressive. But when something gets put together as if you're building a house made of Lincoln Logs, you can't help but wonder how solid it's going to be. But after reading all the positive reviews on their other bookcase (the 59" x 31") and their desk, I decided to buy this and the other two pieces.
I received this one first, so I was very curious if assembly was really as easy as the video made it look. And, honestly, it was. OK, so maybe it took me five minutes instead of two, but it is really ridiculous how incredibly easy it is to assemble these things. But is it solid? Incredibly, yes. Once it's assembled, it's locked in there. And the materials themselves are solid, so this isn't flimsy furniture. But this definitely isn't a gimmick that just falls apart when you touch it. This is a very good bookshelf and it does look very cool sitting in my daughter's room. The one thing I will say, though, is to use the anchor that comes with the bookshelf. It's a plastic tether that you can anchor into your wall, which I would recommend. As with anything tall and narrow, it would be easy to pull it over. And the fact that they include the anchor, along with a loop on the back of the unit, is a very nice touch. **On a side note, assembling the desk and the larger bookcase was just as easy, and both are very solid. I'm very impressed with Legare furniture.
