I got this in Nov 2010 for $180 on Amazon. Don't buy it until the price comes back down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Legare ... the coolest furniture on the planet!!!, October 12, 2009
Length:: 2:27 Mins

Legare Furniture ... without doubt, the coolest furniture on the planet. It assembles out of the box in less than 3 minutes with no tools, no hardware and no headache! Check out this video where a 12 year old boy assembles this 43" Legare Student Desk in less than 2 minutes ... utterly amazing!!! All panels are finished on both sides, so you can flip the top or shelf to double the life of the product for years and years of use. Sturdy interlocking tab & slot assembly is based on a patented "forcing function" concept whereby each step in the assembly locks the preceding step in place ... it will literally hold hundreds of pounds of weight ... a rock solid design with tons of user friendly features like adjustable shelving, asymmetric reversibility, cable managment, modularity, portability, and the list goes on and on. This product is one of the finest values on Amazon.com!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gorgeous! And so easy to put together!, January 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It really was very easy to put together. Everything fits perfectly and the quality is very high too. The desk surface is ample for the needs of my 6 year-old. She'll get her computer in a couple of years and it'll fit fine on this desk. I expect her to use it until she goes to college!

The only potential downside is that if you want to move it, you'll have to disassemble and reassemble (good thing it's so easy to do!) Because there are no nails to hold parts together, you can't actually lift it whole.

This desk is great !!! . I bought this desk for my 6 year duaghter and she loves to do her homework on it - loves the design and bright pink color . Best part of all assembly was easy . The desk is extremely strong and sturdy I plan on having my daughter use this desk when she goes off to college in several years . Also, the desk is big enough for an adult to work on . Enjoy !!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great desk, December 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Legare 43-Inch Kids' Desk with File Cart, Green and White (Kitchen)
We bought this desk from Amazon about a year ago for our son's bedroom, but due to some furniture reshuffling ideas didn't assemble it until now. (I pinched it for my office desk since he no longer wants it.) It does assemble remarkably easy and it's quite sturdy. The file cart is kind of small, but OK for storing odds and ends like note pads, spare pens, whatever. The underneath shelves are sturdy. I have a 6" high stack of heavy hardback art books on the lower one and a 4" high stack of heavy hardback art books on the upper one, and there's no sign of any problems. The so-called "PDA shelf" actually supports my flatscreen monitor quite nicely - it's just about the same depth as the monitor stand, and it's strong and firmly affixed to the desk.

The only problem I have is with the extra side shelf. As other reviewers have mentioned, it leans. I thought I could put it on the inside of the desk (the same slot where you see it in the picture, but underneath instead of sticking out to the side), but due to the tab/slot configuration, it won't work. So that's just sitting on the floor of the office until I figure out what to do about it. I would not want to risk putting a heavy CPU on it as shown in the photo.

All in all, excellent, and if we need another desk of this style, Legare & Amazon will be my first choice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect., July 28, 2011
The desk is great. It was indeed easy to set up. I ran into some trouble with the file cabinet as we are not supposed to lock the snaps in the beginning and the snap is a bit tighter in the file cabinet so that it holds firm. Else, I assembled the table, once I had the pieces out in literally 8 minutes. The look is good, and it feels sturdy. I am glad I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely happy, what a great design, June 4, 2011

I ordered this along with the bookcase, in pink&white and green&white combinations. The colors match so well with my daughter's room. The build and design look silky smooth, definitely don't look cheap. I am completely happy.

The roll-out file cart is a bit tricky to figure out. I had to disassemble once and reassemble. Make sure the little cutouts on the side boards are both facing inside and don't forget to insert the 2 metal file holder pieces. Also the rollers really need a STRONG hand to push in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool Desk, December 29, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Legare 43-Inch Kids' Desk with File Cart, Green and White (Kitchen)
The desk was VERY easy to assemble, but also easy to come apart...so it made moving it a little challenging. A monitor (flatscreen) was not about to fit on the shelf because of the shelf-back (white), so we did not use it...the shelf alone seems sturdy enough for the monitor though. I think the desk is great for older kids because it is a little wobbly - but I do not think it will falter...it just seems a little unstable. Very cool though, we love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely desk, September 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This desk is very nice and very easy to assemble like the video shows. The only trouble I had was understanding the instructions for assembling the roll-out cart since only figures were listed without any written instructions.
