1.0 out of 5 stars ...awful...
This is the most sorry excuse for an RPG game that I have ever played. It has awful graphics, cheesy and fake voice acting, a god-awful battle system(you die so easly in the beginning of the game), and it's got very little replay value. If you just HAVE to play this game, then a weekend rental is the way to go.

... You start out with a very basic character that you can mold into the warrior you want him to be. As the game progresses three additional characters will join you on your quests and you can mold them as well. Dozens of weapon and magic skills you can choose from. Become an expert in a skill and weild that weapon or cast that spell with deadly force. That "little red bar" is your recovery time between weapon swings/spell casting and becomes less of a factor as you improve your skills (especially the "speed" skill). The graphics are so-so... but good enough. The sound is excellent and replayability is almost limitless. I'm playing for the third time trying to complete all the side quests available. ...

5.0 out of 5 stars I thought it was good!, June 16, 2003

Heck I really liked the game. It has a great 2 player value and although the game lacked some storyline it had a great battle system and I liked the sidequests alot. Dont go and expect the game to be another FFX but if you just want a fun game not something that is going to give you deep thought than this is probably your game.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Game is not for quitters, January 3, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Alon D'ar (Video Game)
I have beaten this game 5 times. If you learn what you're doing, it's the easiest, most interesting, and in some ways the most fun two player RPG on a console.

The one thing you have to learn is to use skill points and not complain about the beginning. If you specialize in two handed axe, one handed hammer, or one handed sword, this game is a breeze, as everything else just falls together. To the #1 reviewer, quit your griping. You didn't even get to Dagan, the second area. I have beaten this game 5 times, have found ALL the collectibles (minus the tree frogs ;) ) and I can garuntee you, this game is AWESOME! It is hard at some points, but it's a game, it's supposed to be challenging.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good game, December 29, 2002
This review is from: The Legend of Alon D'ar (Video Game)
I spent 15$ on this game and think it's very worth it.The fight system is extremely creative, the 2 player mode is tons of fun and character advancement makes it all the better.I find it very annoying when you cant heal after using your weapon.offensive and defensive should be seperate.Other than that, graphics and sound are great, just dont give up.

4.0 out of 5 stars An all around impressive game, December 12, 2001

I had heard a lot of hype over this game before playing it. That usually means the game doesn't live up to the hype. Not the case here. The graphics are impressive, as is the sound. The opening movie is spectacular. The controls and gameplay are great, which makes exploring the lush environment a lot of fun. The game does well on the small details such as the sound your feet make when walking on grass vs. a path or bridge, and the inclusion of flocks of birds and meandering sheep in the 3D landscape. The controls of the game are nicely done which makes exploring easy and fun. The learning curve is fairly short. The battles are real time turn based, so strategy definetely comes into play when fighting. All in all, this one is worth picking up if you are an RPG fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first rate RPG., November 27, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Alon D'ar (Video Game)
Hello people. If you have tried Summoner 1/2 and haven't played The Legend of Alon D'ar, you're missing out on a great game. If you have the game and you can't get past the early part of the game, then learn how to specialize weapon skills and conserve potions so you can enjoy this game's story. Even though the lore of this game could be more elaborate and comprehensive, it is extremely interesting(like Summoner). I love the combat system and its inclusion of throwing weapons such as javelins/bows/throwing weapons. The best way to get enjoyment out of this game is to throughly do all the quests(especially the legendary weapon quests), enjoy the story/lore, and play with another like minded friend!

1.0 out of 5 stars A very bad battle system, January 6, 2005
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Alon D'ar (Video Game)
The most annoying part of this game is the battle system, its absurd, it doesn't make sense.
When you swing a weapon at your enemy you have to wait way too long before you can swing it again, its stupid.
Even I could fight better than that moron in the game. You could probably bear that out with one handed weapons, but
two handed weapons need you to wait a good 5 seconds between swings
(maybe more)and when you are fighting someone it seems like forever. Graphics are average, at some points less.
And i hated that after you beat the final boss there is no conclusion,
the characters just walk off (I love a game with a good story e.g. Legaia 2).
And the point is that don't buy this game, there are better games out there with the good sides of this game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunlight Through a Tainted Window, February 2, 2002

A sense of accomplishment, one thats been long forgotten by society and time, is what you will be granted if you play out and beat this game. Its a history of life, taught in the most subtle of ways, and its a good challenge if you're up for it. Its the type of game that one can easily find himself getting lost in, and one that will provide you with hours of mind tantalizing fun. The graphics are pretty good, as are the views, but the best part is the weapon/magic selections that it offers. Definitely a game for a true RPG fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst RPG EVER!, September 18, 2002

This review is from: The Legend of Alon D'ar (Video Game)
...The graphics and environment are barely average, the story is rote, and the combat system is easily the worst ever invented. What initially attracted me to this game before it was released was the sheer size of the environments you can explore....and the game is big, but all the vast expanse of this game serves to do is make it seem even more boring and lackluster. ...
