5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite and most-used deck!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Companion to the Deck
This book is meant to accompany the tarot deck by the author. As such, it provides a nice background to the Authurian aspects of the art of the cards as well as providing the general tarot meanings.
On its own, the book would not really be of any substantial value.

This review is from: Legend: The Arthurian Tarot (Cards)
I have read tarot for 23 years, and this is the deck that I use the most. The thing about finding a deck to read with is that you have to find one that speaks to you - one that has images and symbols that resonate with you. As a lifelong lover of the Arthurian Traditions, I have gravitated to all things Arthurian from books to films right down to Tarot decks. I have several that are Celtic/Arthurian but this one has more depth than most. Yes, there's a dark side, but how else are you to balance the light? If you read with an unbalanced deck how can your readings be anything BUT unbalanced? One-sided? These cards are pen/ink and watercolor and even I think a bit of airbrush from time to time - the images take you deeper into Arthurian legend to some of the more obscure legends and lessons within those legends. You don't JUST get to see Gawain and the Green Knight but you get to meet Ragnell and so many others - you get to see through the symbols and colors that blend so well something deeper than simple pentacles or coins/rods or wands/swords/cups or grails......you find the meaning that goes so much deeper and into the crux of the questioner's questions and/or issues at hand. If your love is Arthurian Tradition and you're drawn to such things, this is an amazing deck to use - but it's NOT for beginners.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guidance from Camelot, July 25, 2007

One of my earliest Tarot teachers always emphasized that it's not enough to just memorize the "definitions" of each card ~ it's important to explore what you SEE in each card each time. This deck is fabulous for that kind of intuitive reading style.

While the accompanying book is wonderful and thorough in the Tarot definitions and Arthurian legend background that are provided, the cards themselves open up into cinematic scenes that offer insight and guidance that shift with each throw. The deck shimmers with life and with wisdom. It became my favorite the first time I used it.

This deck and book literally make every reading i do more accurate and feel right. It is easier for me to identify with the Arthurian symbolism than the traditional decks. I LOVE this deck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow..., September 13, 2007

I absolutely love this deck. It fits very easily into my hands- it's only slightly bigger than the average deck of playing cards. I really wasn't sure how I was going to feel about these when I ordered them, and even while I was looking through them I had mixed feelings. I have used my Enchantment Deck for years and it was almost as though I was neglecting a friend... But as soon as I started to shuffle this deck I was just like "Wow". I haven't been able to put them down! I still love me Enchantment Deck and use them regularly, but usually just for myself. These are great cards though and the little booklet it comes with is actually quite nice!

4.0 out of 5 stars Arthurian Tarot, September 28, 2011

I'm prefer my Tarot straight up; not mixed with other paradigms, legends, fantasies, etc. But then I didn't get this for myself. The artwork is lovely and the deck would appeal to most people interested in the Arthurian legend.

5.0 out of 5 stars From the author of Tales of Ancient Xenar, August 5, 2011

Yes, I love this tarot deck a lot. I know it may seem strange, but I use the tarot to help me with certain decisions. What I do is I shuffle the card 3 or more times, I put the deck down and cut the deck to the right. Then I flip up the top card on each pile. If a major arcana card is the top of one of the piles, then the tarot is telling me to make that choice. But if both cards are major or minor arcana, then the tarot cannot help me at the time.
Right now, I'm working on a tarot deck based on characters and settings from my book. I just need an artist specializing in oils or acrylics to create the images.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely tarot interpretation, March 24, 2011

This review is from: Legend: The Arthurian Tarot (Cards)
Like the Llewellyn tarot deck by the same artist, this is a beautifully painted, tasteful and original deck with striking images and helpful interpretations. Visually, this deck seems more ethereal or other-worldly than the Llewellyn: figures often have almost a ghostly aura about them, and the colour tones are a bit cooler. I have both decks, this being my latest purchase, and even though I love Ms Ferguson's Welsh tarot deck, the Arthurian one doesn't disappoint. It should be noted, however, that this deck is accompanied only by a little white book (LWB) -- a tiny pamphlet, really -- but the Llewellyn deck has an actual book with fuller explanations and (excellent) written tarot interpretations, which some people may find more helpful.

Edit: I now think that these cards are less helpful for readings than the Llewellyn deck, for three reasons. First and most importantly, the cards are significantly narrower in this deck and the pictures are therefore hard to see: I feel I could benefit from a magnifying glass! Secondly, the minor arcana cards show scenes that are less illustrative of the meaning of the cards, e.g. compare the Four of Cups in this deck with the same card in the Llewellyn deck. Thirdly, the full book of the Llewellyn deck is much more helpful and informative in explaining the meanings of each card. For all these reasons, I would recommend the other deck over this, if you are choosing just one.

NB: These cards continue to give off an unpleasant plastic smell, unlike my other (Welsh) set by Ferguson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Deck, I Connected With them Right Away, January 7, 2011
This review is from: Legend: The Arthurian Tarot (Cards)
I ordered this set and the Arthurian Tarot (Newer Edition). I don't really care for the Authorian deck, the white background is a turn off. It should have stayed black. This set is awesome and immediately grabbed my attention.

I cannot wait to use it for magic ritual work. This deck goes really well with the William G. Gray material I'm studying (Western Inner Workings). Great deck, really nice cards.
