5.0 out of 5 stars Really great way to get into Drizzt and R.A. Salvatore!
I've always been a huge fantasy fan. Whether it is books or movies, R.A. Salvatore is at the top of the game in my opinion. If you like fantasy, especially dark elves, then this is the book for you. I've read alot of the Dragonlance novels, but finding this book and book one in the collector's editions, really made my day. Even online, unless you just have the room and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Series
Great series. Minor editing errors (Wulfgar as Walfgar or Wijlfgar... makes me wonder if the editor slept on the job...) ... Good story.

BEWARE - There are no maps for the second and third book of this trilogy. I assumed that these "collectors editions" would have all that the collectors would want, but it seems not. Sigh...

Nice printing...

Nice printing and cover though. I would rate the story 4/5. This edition? 3/5.

4.0 out of 5 stars good piece of fantasy writing, terrible editing, January 26, 2009
This review is from: The Legend of Drizzt Collector's Edition, Book II (Hardcover)
typical fantasy storyline based on the Forgotten Realms D&D campaign world. if that's your style then this is a very good book. you will notice glaring punctuation and editing errors throughout, though. misplaced commas, capitalization in the wrong places, and bad paragraph breaks will break your focus on the story. while it doesnt detract that much from the overall work, it's irritating never the less.

I've read alot of the Dragonlance novels, but finding this book and book one in the collector's editions, really made my day. Even online, unless you just have the room and money, to collect a ton of novels, having these books put together in this type of edition is a lot easier to own. I've found it hard to find alot of the earlier novels I like, especially when they come in three or more books/parts. Either which way, these novels are stunning in both the looks of the covers and in reading them since you don't want to put it down until you're done! Enjoy!

what the seller don't tell you is that this book has pages missing from it. It looks like a publishing problem. But after repeated attempts to contact my seller to no avail. I just counted it a loss. Will never buy anything from Amazon again!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Series, September 1, 2009

I've read well over a hundred books, probably closer to two hundred. RA Salvatore is one of my favorite authors, and Drizzt in my one of my all time favorite fictional characters, the other two being Raistlin Majere of the Dragonlance novels, and Lestat from Anne Rice's vampire series. I'd recommend the Legend of Drizzt series to anyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars A great book, but, among other fantasy titles, this doesn't stand out except for great fight scenes and plenty of them, July 26, 2008
This review is from: The Legend of Drizzt Collector's Edition, Book II (Hardcover)
Legend of Drizzt Collector's Edition, Book II, The (The Legend of Drizzt)
This was a great book. I truly enjoyed reading it, but I think it is often over-rated. I don't regret purchasing it, as I'm trying to build a collection of books, but among the many other books I've read and own, it did not stand out. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys sword and scorcery style fight-scenes and plenty of them. It was great at the beginning, the fight scenes alway quick and entertaining. After a while though, it lost its flavor. Characters aren't overly developed, though I did love them. Characters are usually black & white, though there are exceptions. As a whole, the plot is very predictable and offers little surprises, at least for a veteran reader such as myself. Readers new to the genre would love this book, or young readers. Overall, a great book with a lot of action and adventure. Buy or read this if you're looking for loads of that.
