Pretty good!, July 27, 2005
This review is from: Legend of Himiko Complete Collection (DVD)
The Legend of Himiko is about a young girl who wants to find the history of her birth. As a baby she was transported from another land in another time to modern day Japan, although she didn't know it at the time. A little boy named kutani found her on the steps of an ancient ruin. The only thing that was known about Himiko was that she was found with a blueish green pendent on her neck. Himiko a few years later in high school was questioning kutani at the steps where she was found about what he knew and how she was found. The pendent suddenly came alive and himiko and kutani were transported to a land that is at war. Before the war there were several queen candidates and the life force of the country (bokka) was about to chose the first queen when the enemy struck. Years later the queen candidates and a loyal commander forsaw the saviors of the country in crystal ball. The met with Himiko and Kutani for the first time and narrowly escape the enemy. They join forces and fight, but all himiko wants to do go back home away from this "nightmare" and Kutani promises to take her back. Will they really manage to go back home? This anime is action packed with adventures and you won't regret buying it. It's really addictive actually.

A good anime, very amusing., August 20, 2003
This review is from: Legend of Himiko Complete Collection (DVD)
I didn't know much about this series when I first purchassed it on a gamble, but I wasn't dissapointed. The story is interesting, and runs along fine. Considering it was based off of a Japanese playstation game. There are plenty of hunourous points, and there is enough action to keep most into it. Animation is clean, and the music is very good. Particulary the opening and closing themes.
There are many extras, like outtakes, art galleries, etc. So I think its worth picking up.
The only complaint I had is that the English voice acting seemed kind of dull and lifeless. So you might want to watch it subtitled instead of the Dubbed version.

A Very Well Done Anime, March 11, 2007
This review is from: Legend of Himiko Complete Collection (DVD)
I received this for Valentine's Day from my girlfriend, have since watched it, and felt like reviewing it for you, so here it is.
The nation of Yamatai is about to embark in an all new direction when they decide to install a queen to rule their nation, the queen will be chosen from 1 of 6 candidates by a mysterious thing called the Bokka (referred to as the Light of the Bokka throughout the series). Suddenly, the ceremony is interrupted when an invading army (The Kune) launches their attack on Yamatai. In order to protect the candidates, the Bokka scatters the 6 girls across Yamatai.
As for the Bokka, it disappears into a newborn child named Himiko who is then transported into the future. Armed with only her pendant and no memory of her past, Himiko grows up in present day Japan (I believe) where she attends high school with her childhood friend Kutani. One day, the two are wandering around an archaelogical dig headed up by her father, they come upon the place where Himiko was discovered all those years ago.
Not long after, the pendant around Himiko's neck lights up and both she and Kutani are transported to Yamatai. Once there, they begin to learn about the power of the Bokka and their connection to it. They must join with the 6 queen candidates in order to free the nation of Yamatai and rid it of the darkness growing and building under it.
That is all that I want to say about the story line because I don't want to give it away. About the show itself, I loved it. The series consists of 12 episodes on 3 DVD's, each episode is a "full episode" meaning that they are around 23-24 minutes long which is a plus. Honestly, I think that they could've stretched the show out a few more episodes because it seems that the final episodes are a little rushed.
There's plenty of magic, sword-fighting, and yes even zombies in this show as well as other monsters. As I said in the title, this anime was very well done, looks amazing, has a great story/plot to it, and the characters are awesome.
