This is one of the books you'll want to get. The actual Absokeavadeana is a romance of Asoka (much like the many Alexander romances). But this volume is as much a critical study as a book of the writings. You will learn a great deal, and if you are just becoming aquainted with the king, you will find why many see him as being quite admirable. Highest reccomendation.
