The Legend of Papa Noel: A Cajun Christmas Story,

A very fun Louisiana tale about Papa Noel traveling from the deepest swamp to deliver gifts to good little Cajun boys and girls. Written with a few 'Cajun' words but there is a pronunciation / glossary at the front of the book -- nothing hard, my 6 year old can do it. Beautiful illustrations.

One of the best "multicultural" Christmas tales ever!,

The Legend of Papa Noel, the "Cajun" version of Santa Claus is very funny indeed, especially if you can read it with the "Cajun" accent! The lead alligator of Papa Noel's team that pulls his barge along the swampy everglades is a riot with his "snappy" (no pun intended) comebacks to Papa Noel's commentary on their Christmas Eve ride to deliver presents. Embedded in the story are glimpses of "Cajun" life and culture. The author does a splendid job telling this Christmas story that is different and "wondermous"!

I have a Cajun neighbor that I have volunteered to read this to my nieces and nephews at our Christmas party. I looked through it already, and it is very cute. The drawings and story are sure to delight the little ones, especially when my neighbor reads it in his Cajun accent!

We lived in Louisiana for 2 1/2 years and my children, all little then, were memorized with the bonfires on the levee of the Mississippi River that we attended every Christmas Eve we lived there. Imagine my children's surprise when we read this book for the first time and got a bit of the "history" behind those bonfires! This is a really fun book. The Legend of Papa Noel: A Cajun Christmas Story

This is a wonderful regional story set in the Louisiana Cajun country. It is pure fantasy involving a Cajun Santa living deep in the swamp. Instead of a sleigh and reindeer, this Santa has a pirogue pulled by alligators. Nicolette, a magical white alligator, has green eyes that shine like Rudolphs red nose. Kids of all ages will love this well written story and the beautiful illustrations. I've bought copies of this book for all my neices, nephews, as well as my great neices and nephews and everyone has claimed this as their most favorite book of all.
