Product Description

The Voice is Calling - The Knowledge is Waiting!

When Todd, Zak, Jordan and Andrea agreed to spend the summer in their grandmother's remote cabin in the Colorado mountains, they had thought their biggest concern was death by boredom. Without video games, cell phone reception, or internet connection, the summer was supposed to be filled with leisurely naps by mountain streams and mundane hikes through wilderness trails.

Boy were they wrong!

After stumbling upon a decrepit house on a forgotten hill, the children come face to face with Paul McGurney, a mysterious man with seemingly no past, who offers them a chance of a lifetime: a portal through time to bear witness to the life of the most famous man in history. But with this exclusive glimpse comes a hefty price, as an evil is unleashed who wants nothing more than to seek and destroy the children before they can fully experience what Paul McGurney is showing them.

About the Author

Josh Clark is a high school English teacher in Ohio. A graduate of Huntington University, he is currently writing the final installment in the McGurney Chronicles series, and is hard at work on his first adult novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for youth readers!, June 26, 2010
When I read this book, it was to evaluate it for a publisher. I thought I could "suffer through" a book written for young adults and youth readers.

Hah! I got very involved with the characters, the plot, and every facet of the story. This is a great read!

Give it to your family, it will quite possibly change their lives.

While there are some overtones I didn't think would appeal to me. This book actually turned out to be a great read. It's fast paced and has some great scenes in it.

This review is from: The Legend of Paul McGurney (The McGurney Chronicles) (Kindle Edition)
While this was a good YA book, I was irritated that somehow I missed that this was a "Christian" horror book, if that genre exists. The book cover and reviews led me to think I was getting a really spooky book and I did not find this to be the case. The last quarter is when you find out the Christian aspect and the book also leaves you hanging with no ending so you must get the sequel if you want to know the fate of the characters. You flip the page and, Oh that's all??? I have no problem with a Christian read if I am aware that is what I am purchasing just don't like to get so far through waiting for the "big scare" and find out there isn't one.
