This review is from: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow [New York Cast Recording] (Audio CD)
This is just a dreadful score and recording- with only a couple of songs that are barely memorable - feel sorry for all of the talent involved - but actually some of the singers aren't that great singers or actors, so I don't feel sorry for everyone involved. The recording itself is professionally done, which begs me to wonder how something like this actually gets recorded while I'm sure there are many other shows out there that are much better that go un-recorded.
A lot of the dialogue on the recording is completely out of context with the time period of this show, there are a lot of false rhymes, many of the songs are almost blatant rip offs of other shows (for example "Ichabod Crane" has many elements of "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast) -and at 29 songs, it seems to be so over-written, that I could never imagine an audience sitting through this entirely.
