After a couple of dull PS2 iterations, spyro 3rd time is well polished. They have taken their time to get the game right. It is not going to break any new grounds, but it is a fun game. It is very straight forward, fit for all ages. The gameplay is very simple old school platformer. With all the big 08 holiday releases this one went under the radar. Pick it up you wont regret it. Good addition to you Wii library.

this is one of the best multiplayer games i have ever played!!!!!!!!! i totally reccamend this. This game actually can be rather hard when u do it on one-player mode, but its brilliant on co-op. This game truly is the grandfanally of all the spyro games, and the best. The main thing i truly appreciate is that Spyro for once is'nt some chubby little comical looking dragon, but he finally now looks fully matured. The graphics are also much better, and the music is poetry in motion! The plot is sterotype, but, the ending is unexpected. The battle is intense and sometimes majorly difficult, but can be accompleshed once u try a few times. As i played this game, i was never bored in it, and it was even better then my usual standerds of a great game. Then again, i think most games should have co-op,and i admit that was what really made this game enjoyable for me. I also like how you can now actually fly, and there are alot of areas! Also, having armor adds a twist, as in cinder's armor looks much bettter on her the Spyro =D !!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, i like that the movie parts are actually, litterally, movie parts, with amazing high-defenision graphics, like in a real movie. The only con is that the game seems to short, but i geuus that just for me, saying that i finish games really fast.............
overall, this game is brilliant! I reccomend you to buy this now! (Please comment if you have questions or just comments!) ~snuffles

i love this game! i have not finished it yet, but i already adore it. the 2 player mode is really cool, and it makes the game easier ( since it is pretty hard ) and more fun. being able to fly so well really makes this game great. the whole thing is not just ruins and catacombs, and you get to explore lots of awesome outdoor places.your powers are fun to use, including my favorite, fire. me an my sister love to play and replay the levels as we go. this is a winning game.

Dawn of the Dragon is third and last game in the Legend of Spyro series and is the hardest. The guardians, Spyro, Cinder, Sparx, and a new character called Hunter appear in this game. The storyline is not quite as good as the previous two but is still very interesting. Both Cinder and Spyro are playable. Cinder uses shadow, poison, fear, and wind elements, while Spyro uses fire, ice, earth, and electric elements. Unlike before, they use a purple beam of energy, instead of the blast Spyro used in the previous installments. There are more fighting moves than before and a much greater variety of enemies. There are more puzzles to figure out, and elite enemies appear in each stage. This is the only game in the series where two player mode is available. Each of the players gets to choose Spyro or Cinder to play and advance through the storyline with. The two player mode is difficult to master at first, but it is the only way to use two of the dragons' elemental powers at once. Artwork of the game and its characters can be viewed, and stages can be played at any time after you defeat them(this was not possible before). Bosses are harder than before, but you can usually heal yourself. The dragons can fly(anytime), climb, and wall run in the stages, but can no longer charge. Colors are much brighter than before, and Cinder and Spyro look older. This game focuses on fighting with attacks and elemental powers. Fans of the old Spyro series may not like this game. Overall, an excellent game and finish to the series. Note: movie on the on the first installment of the series should come out in theaters on April 10th of 2010 unless it is delayed.

Great Multiplayer Action,

Just a few days ago my sister and I rented this game from a local blockbuster. We've been playing it on two player ever since, and I must say it is one of the funnest games on multiplayer platform that I have yet to play on the wii. My sister and I are four years apart (she's 12, i'm 16), and it's perfect for an afternoon of fun gaming. It's great to be able to fly around and complete objectives and feel in sync the entire time (the dragons are connected by an invisible electric rope around their necks). The game makes you really feel like you're soaring through the air, and having a friend who has your back the whole time gives the game a real partners-in-saving-the-world feel (if that even is a feeling, haha). Even if you're playing single player, you still can switch between Spyro and Cynder and whatever dragon you aren't playing is still flying along with you and holding up its share of the work (fighting, carrying objects, etc.). I'd reccomend this game to anyone, cause I'm betting by the end of the four days we have the game rented for, we'll be calling up blockbusters and telling them to charge our account for the game cause we "lost it".

I really appreciate how this game does not limit you to certain areas and you can freely look about and explore. I love how the dragons fly and glide and the elements which each use and the ability to use either dragon ,Spyro or Cynder. It is a little hard to figure how to maneuver the remote for what and how to do some of the things to clear the level, but I would have been disappointed if it where to easy, I enjoy a challenge. I appreciate this game as an adult, for my kids I think its a bit difficult, my older child would not have a problem with it but my younger children would probably not get very far. For myself I really like it and would recommend it highly.
UPDATE: I've been playing this for a little bit now. I still like it, but it is a little frustrating how difficult it is to see who your fighting and the glitches in it make it seem almost impossible to fight the big villains. While climbing vines I can not keep spyro from cannonball dives to the ground but when you actually want to do that good luck! I really enjoy the flying and finding things but when it comes to trying to get rid of the bad guys what ever they may be it is almost a just push whatever button an hope you get them all. Fun but frustrating.

Beautiful,

This review is from: Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon (Video Game)
First, this game is beautiful. The colors, music, and ability to fly all make it very easy to sink into the environment. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the controls, they fit just fine to the wii remote/nunchuck. Like any new game you pick up the controls in 5-10 minutes, nothing bad. I gave the game itself 4 stars for some glitches I've run into. It lags (not often, but enough to notice) at some points and it once started emitting really odd noises, froze, and lost the progress. I'm not sure what that was about but further along in the game it hasn't given too many problems. Just save whenever you see a save point. It's been really nice to find a fun co-op that is not online (I don't want to buy a second game system just to play a multiplayer game -_-), Overall, it's a beautifully done game with a lot of fun points, the flying itself is worth it~

the game is fun but a bit buggy. It is really cool to be able to play two players when ever you need to! However we found that a few areas are difficult to coordinate and maneuver without having the computer play one to the characters.

Good Fun & Entertainment from an Old Friend!
I remember Spyro from the late 90's when he made his debut on the PS1. Here we are ten years later and he is still going strong. Yes, the last few Spyro titles have been a disappointment, but for some reason Activision did it right and churned out a great game. I have to admit that since Spyro landed on the PS2 and the Gamecube including the Wii that the games have been a bit of a let down. The games were still playable, but missing that certain something quality that made the original first three games so much fun. The magic from the original creators had faded away. Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is probably one of the most beautiful Spyro games to date. It's simply gorgeous. This is also the first time that Spyro can fly in a game. I think the Spyro the character has really matured a bit and there is a certain grown up element to this game. I wouldn't call it a boss battle, but one of the big monsters in the first level is a bit on the scary side and the way the game plays reminded me a little of God of War. I would say this game isn't complete 3D like Mario. Spyro is restricted to what is visible on screen and the 2nd analog stick doesn't function the way I would like it to. The second analog stick has always been used to rotate the camera angle around the screen 360 degrees, but because of the fact you are restricted to semi 2D/3D layout that one can only move the camera to what the game lets the player see, so its pretty much a 180 degree turn. I didn't find this to be a BIG problem, but it was a bit annoying at times. Other then that small annoyance i actually found the game to be quite entertaining. It brings back some of the magic from the original Spyro games that were lacking on his PS2 days. This is definitely a title you want to add to your library and its hours of fun with a familiar face. |
