Triple Crown Publications Paperback July 2011 A Hood Legend takes you through the day-to-day life of Menage Unique Legend and his associates in the streets of Miami. I really liked the story line of the book and the twists and turns but I thought that it could have flowed much better. The problem I had with this book was that each couple of pages changed to different characters and situations without giving many details, making the beginning somewhat confusing. I also was distracted and often thrown off by the constant mention of Menage's Canary yellow Escalade ESV with Burberry seats. There were also grammatical errors that were overlooked. Overall I think A Hood Legend could have been a great story if there were more details and it was more developed. A Hood Legend by Victory L. Martin
This book was highly recommended. A good read I was told. At first I thought ok another hood story probally same-0 story we already know and have read about. After reading about Menage and his love for material things, his dream to reach a mil.and the hoes who would freely open their coochie. But like always every smart man has that "one special women." I started to have me doubts. But as I started to read on, the plot got thicker. I expecially fell in love with Dwight. Finally a man who can keep his zipper up on the count of true love. (well this is until) As for his no good girl. I do hope that in the squel she gets what she deserves. I'm curious as to how things will end with each character and find out who the hell these other cats are? Why Mr. Marchetti and what's the link? There's got to be more to the story than what's set out. A Hood Legend is a good read and I can't wait to read the sequal "Manage's Way". My only disappointment was how the book ended! You could of left something for me to play off of?!?!

A Hood Legend is a great read. The main character Menage is a memeorable one. He is strong, sexy, mysterious and definitely will make the ladies fall in love. Once I picked the book up I had to finish it in one sitting and then I raced to start the sequel, "Menage's Way." Victor L. Martin is a great author that I'm looking forward to reading more from in the future.

I really enjoyed this book. The book keeps it real, this is a page turner and was off the hook!!! I can't believe I almost passed this up. Someone gave me this book and it was so beat up I said never mind, then one day I picked it up because I had nothing to read at that time and didn't put it down I read this in day and a half. I will pick up Victor Martin books every time. Great Job!

Victor Martin knows his stuff. A hood legend is full of Sex Lies, and Betrayal. If you like stories that are true to life in the hood you'll love the trilogy of Menage Unique Legend

3.5 Stars - Decent Debut Effort,
This review is from: A Hood Legend (Triple Crown Publications Presents) (Paperback)
I stumbled upon "Menage's Way" by Victor L. Martin and started reading it before I read the synopsis on the back. I was about 30 or so pages into the book and laid it down. That's when I saw that it was a sequel to "A Hood Legend". So I went back and read "A Hood Legend" first. Make sure you do that or else "Menage's Way" will have a lot of unanswered questions for you.
Now to my review of "A Hood Legend". It's set in Miami with the main character being a man named Menage Unique Legend. He's a hustler as well as a player and claims that once he makes his million dollars he's out of the game. There's also a lot of drama surrounding him with friends, foes, and females. That's the majority of what the book is about. No new subject here. With this type of genre your book has to set itself apart from all the other imitators out there. I think that Mr. Martin accomplished setting himself apart to a certain extent but he still has more work. I enjoyed the Menage character the majority of the time, he seemed like a decent guy that just got caught up. I didn't enjoy the constant name-dropping - Prada this, Gucci that, it got to be a bit much. Overall though, I think this book deserves some attention. I will definitely go back and read the sequel "Menage's Way". I'm not sure if Mr. Martin is incarcerated at this time but if he is please continue to keep God in your heart and a positive mind that will help you put out these novels. If I am mistaken and Mr. Martin isn't incarcerated, I wish him the exact same blessings and much future success. |
