This review is from: Legend of Weathertop (Tolkien Quest) (Paperback)
This is the second book in the Tolkien Quest series yet it seems to be set AFTER the events in the Lord of the Rings. Weird. The book is fun but there is one thing I must warn you about. The goal is to find the Staff of Truth hidden in the underground chambers beneath Weathertop! Between the surface and these chambers are a maze of tunnels, rooms, ruins. While there is a map for Weathertop and a map for the underground chambers that hold the Staff, the maze has no map. So I suggest you make it as you go along. The maze is tricky and many times you may find yourself in the same place, encountering the same characters. I once, in fact, ended up coming up all the way to the surface and re-entering in another spot and encountering...well, I will not spoil it.
Still, it is fun. And there is some parts where reason, logic and cunning are very useful in saving both your life and your time. If you need to get it used make sure it has the map in the middle. It can be removed and therefore in a used book it may be missing. |
