This witchcraft documentary was filmed in summer of 1964.The dvd claims 1969.Yet,for a historical perspective,of what some British wiccans do,this is an excellent film.For a proper wiccan worship ritual,this Alexanderian version,is a hodge-podge of christian/pagan beliefs.Alexander Saunders makes some valid points about the merging of christian/pagan ideas,yet it falls short,in the final analyse. Saunders points out that William the Conquerer was the son of a christian king and a pagan witch.Tapestry symbolism seem to validate his claims.Yet,Saunders also claims that Diana,the Moon huntress,tempted Lucifier,the Sun,into giving the Earth daily light.Nowhere in any heathen or christian scriptures ,does the paganess Diana have a relationship with a christian devil.It seems for theatrical purposes,Alexander Saunders played up the sinister side of christian witchcraft.Saunders also claims the Robin Hood legend is equal to Jesus,the twelve disciples and Maid Marion as Mother Mary.Again Saunders tries to merge the the pagan ideals of Robin Hood with the christian ideals of Jesus Christ.Both believed take from the rich and give to the poor.Both suffered for their values and were executed for them.Saunders was rediscovering his pagan roots,yet he worshipped as a 'christian/pagan'.In 1973,Maxine the 'witch-queen',divorced Alexander.Perhaps for infidelity.Also shown is a bit of Cecil Williamson's witchcraft museum collection.Saunders is credited as the 'King of Wiccan Witchcraft',by some followers.True Wicca has no christian baggage attached.Gerald Gardner is the true 'Father of Wicca'.The pentagram was a Jewish invention,that closely fit the pagan five-points of Nature.The two symbols merged,yet some see it as jewish-christain,rather than heathen-pagan.Alexander Saunders had some two thousand followers ,at the height of his popularity,in the late 1960's and early 70s.I think the Alexanderian wiccans had a tough time staying 'pagan'.Their rituals are very close to christian ones.I'm curious how many followers of Saunders become born-again christians later on.This witchcraft documentary is an interesting look back at one version of the budding,flowering of the 'neo-pagan' movement.It's interesting all the different off-shoots that stemmed from a common belief in paganism.Yet,Alexanderian paganism may have wilted away,without a vital successor,keeping the traditions of Saunders alive.

I am an Alexandrian initiated Witch.So I thought I should have something with Sanders in it right ? Wrong,like my HP told me years ago Sanders was a showboat ! I bought this DVD and after watching it threw it out! It is so bad I didn't want to resell it. Don't waste your money,trust me !
