3.0 out of 5 stars the guitar leads are just phenomenal
Stripped down, bare bones, off-the wall, rock and roll. Vocals can be harsh at times, but it only adds to the edginess. The guitar leads are just phenomenal, but sometimes drown out everything else.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real legend, June 22, 2007
By
This review is from: Legend of the World (Audio CD)
These guys are a legend, period. I witnessed these guys on the warped tour '05 and was blown away. This was far more than just straight up rock and roll. The frontman just had this presence, and when I heard him say 'someone get me an earth water' I knew I had to keep watching. Dual guitar work is just amazing, nothing fancy, but in your face. Lyrics are politically and intergalactically motivated. Do beware though, for those not familiar with the band, Mr. Himself's vocals will take some getting used to, but he's just full of passion and ferocity. This band is more about the music than any band I've seen before, and even more they're passionate about making a difference. Oh yeah, did I mention they're from Venus?

This album picks up where Total Universe Man left off, and is no let down. If you're just now getting into the band, good for you, you will not only be blown away musically but expect your mind to be opened up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Legend of Thorr, July 14, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Legend of the World (Audio CD)
first off, gotta say it, im not 13 im 15 1/2

now, for those of you who have listened to Total Universe Man(NOT THEIR DEBUT ALBUM! that would be Stranded on Earth), i do not need to convince you to get this. the music is much stronger, although it may seem less original. the lyrics by valient himself, though not as powerful and in your face, have much more meaning which makes up for it. almost every song ends in a wicked guitar solo by Eidan Thorr. the bass is actually audible from Nitewolf, unlike Total Universe Man.

Onto those who have not heard of valient thorr- please listen to it. now. i would recommend to start with their previous album and dont worry about Stranded on Earth, its rare and not that good. TUM will get you hooked for life, as will seeing them live just once. I think the band my come off the wrong way if you listen to this album first, although you will enjoy it thouroughly.

onto the song ratings:

1) Heetseeker: after listening to TUM, this song feels like its picking up right where they left off. very Man Behind the Curtain-esque. 5/5

2) Rezerection: the beggining of this song will get you hooked and turns into an incredible track w/ a nice guitar solo ending. 5/5

3) Exit Strategy: one of my favorites, VERY political, which is their niche, sounds alot like pantera but in an extremely good way. 5/5

4) Lime Green Net: an average song, definitely one of the 2 bad songs on the album only because they try to experiment with different sounds and it doesnt come off that good(much like rancid with Life Wont Wait). 3/5

5) Stormstris: One of my 3 favorite songs on here along with exit strategy. just awesome vocals and shows that even though they have awesome guitar solos, they dont need one to make an excellent song. 5/5

6) Goveruptcy: this will be a favorite among fans and i like it alot just not one of my personal favs. very strong political views obviously. stays strong throughout. 5/5

7) False Profits: I think if you just focus on music, this song will fail you. however, listen to the lyrics, some of the strongest on this cd, turning it into a strong track. 4/5

8) Triceratops: ehh...the other of the 2 not so good songs. its supposed to be only music as like one big solo but its just not solo-y enough. not much to say but its alright. 2/5

9) Fall of Pangea: YAY! for some reason when i looked at the track listing i knew this would be awesome..and it is. starts slow, but a good slow, builds up, calms down, finishes great, all with amazing science type lyrics. reminds you that they ARE from venus lol. seven minutes long, seems like most songs they do over 5 minutes are just great. 5/5

10) Problem Solver: more trash punk then anything on this cd, nice guitar solo, lyrics pretty strong here...you may lose it for this cd by the time you get to this song though just cuz the earlier tracks will exhaust your ears and mind so keep in mind to actually listen to these last few tracks when you feel like moshing. 4/5

11) Con Science: for some reason this song seems like a lighter System of a Down song. very awesome really gets you going. i like the ending lyrics "you can get what you want, you just cant get it when you want it". 5/5

12) Har Megiddo: AWEXOME way to end the album. traditional Thorr style with a more modern rythm. the narliest guitar solo on the album. insane. 5/5

pick it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Alahoyus Brollums., December 4, 2006
This review is from: Legend of the World (Audio CD)
Valient Thorr is one of the best bands I have ever come across. I'm am infinitely glad that they crashlanded here on Earth on their way from Venus. They are keeping the classic, face-melting metal/rock'n'roll alive. They are our generation's MC5 with their messages but the music is more reminiscent of Maiden and Thin Lizzy. They are in your face and have cajones like none other. Valient himself is a preacher and his sermon has the best message ever, "I will die for rock'n'roll." Get a bucket for your face because Eidan and Odinn are ready for the rock. and lastly but certainly not leastly, Nitewolf and Lucian make the a brutal, pounding rhythm section. If you like rock and roll and metal and you just need something to really thrash around to, then Valient Thorr is the band for you. They prove that Rock'n'Roll CAN and WILL save the world. It's just a matter of time. Listen, learn, and first and foremost, rock out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not another Immortalizer, August 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Not worth buying, leave it on the shelves. Their views on politics are pretty common. Basically, inflamatory complaints about facism (in America?) Their ideas on the creation of the world are oddball, interestingly so. But, I listen to music for the music, not the lyrics. They should go back in time and make Legend of the World up to par with Immortalizer. In short, I'd rather listen to Rage Against the Machine any day.
