5.0 out of 5 stars A sturdy rival of Ocarina of Time!, January 15, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Video Game)
Ocarina was almost beyond word. But this is a cruising, powerful, and fun rival! The worst thing about it is the seemingly endless confusing ocean. I do not look forward to trying to finger out witch Island I have to go to in which order (as I think there is an order). But I ignore all that for now and just enjoy the wonderful game. cruising blue waters, mystery, dungeons... And I still enjoy exploring the Islands.

I played the original Zelda as a boy. I've enjoyed a lot of good times playing this updated version with my 10 yr. old son. Great adventures and game play, and luckily we can find tips for problems we confront on the internet. Very well designed game that is user friendly. Awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game, amazing graphics and music, June 23, 2011

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Video Game)
The first time I picked up a Legend of Zelda game, it was Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. I was dazzled by the amazing soundtrack and cute graphics. But when I moved away from the friend that had the game, I tried other alternatives. Twilight Princess, Ocarina of Time, Phantom Hourglass, none of them could match up to The Wind Waker. Then I ordered the game, used and in Like New condition. It came within 4 days, and worked perfectly. I LOVE THIS GAME. There's not much more to say than that. You can have Twilight Princess, you can have Ocarina of Time, but give me Ligend of Zelda: The Wind Waker any day.

I bought this game for my son because he is really into all the Zelda games and for the longest time kept asking for it. The game has more of a cartoon look. It is pretty easy to play. Only thing I found hard to do is the wand but my son who is 12 seems to find it a little easier. I don't like the way you have to travel between areas on the boat my son loves it. I do love it when you battle someone and they drop a weapon you can pick it up and use it. Overall if you like the Zelda games this one won't disappoint you.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best zelda ever, March 18, 2008
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Video Game)
This game is awesome, and I reccomend it to anyone. The main story is fairly easy making it more accesable to new or casual gamers ,but some of the extras can get very hard, making it suitable for hard-core gamers. So it has its bad parts, such as sneaking into that fort to rescue your sister at the beginning of the game, but the game's goods make up for the bads. The game has challenging, but fun, puzzles all the way through it. The sword fighting mechanics are fun so you never really want to avoid an enemy. Using items such as a bow and arrow and aiming from far range are really fun. Many of the items that you aquire make you want to use them over and over again. The cooky character animations are great and bring a lot of feeling to the game. Ship sailing, although very fun at the beginning, can just make you want to get there by the end of the game. Many times you may get stuck, but it really isn't hard to get past these parts if you sit down and think. I recommend a strategy guide for this game as it will help you through the tougher parts, but you don't need it. Overall this is a great game and you should buy it.

Unlike some other Legend of Zelda oriented and overall gamers, I truly enjoy this game and find it to be a great addition to the LoZ series. It has a fun art style, no matter how drastic it is from the other games, with fun gameplay. Link gets a version of his traditional gear, plus a few new ones. There's some familiar and unfamiliar places, concepts, music, and faces, but, as always, Link still gets to be the hero. One thing different about the gameplay, though, is some consistent option of sneaky movements like the ability to crawl on any floor and sidle on any wall; Link becomes your little Solid Snake in the making.

As with other games of the Legend of Zelda series, if you haven't played one of them before they can be a bit more challenging until you get used to general gameplay, the patterns for where to go, how to solve puzzles, etc. It also can be frustrating/boring to some people because of the amount of sailing it requires for a good portion of the game, but if you can get through that, I have no qualms about the game. Preference of art style is always a factor for some people, so if you really don't like what you see in pictures, I do not suggest this game for you; it's funny and cute through and through.

Overall, it's a really fun Legend of Zelda game for practically any age with non-bloody action, adventure, and puzzle solving, one that once completed will still be fun to repeat play again and again.

4.0 out of 5 stars The legend of Zelda continues with the Wind Waker, February 1, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Video Game)
I have been an avid player of Zelda games since childhood. In this game Hyrule is a lost and forgotton kingdom and begins at your home... an island in a world covered with water. You, of course, must become the hero in times of peril. Your story begins when your sister is kidnapped on your birthday. You will learn how to command "the power of the winds" and obtain the triforce of courage to save your sister and return her home. On your journey you will seek sunken treasures, solve puzzles, navigate mazes, fight sea monstors, Gannon's minions, and finally Gannon himself.

I give this game:

4 stars for graphics. The cartoon charactors faces show cute animated emotions.

4 stars for challenge. Finding hidden treasures is very challenging, there are so many worlds you will want to take your time and check out everything. (It will take forever to backtrack.)

3 stars for navigation. During boss fights I found this game hard to navigate in the 3d world. It felt like I had one of my eyes closed during the fights. If you run to evade the enemy or neglect to press the aim button you can easily loose track of your position.

5.0 out of 5 stars Altering the Legend, October 24, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Video Game)
This game is one of my few regrets in gaming. That is, I regret missing the chance to preorder it. This is easily the most controversial game in the Legend of Zelda franchise. People were looking forward to another Zelda with the look, feel, and design of the N64 masterpieces. Instead, we got a much more cartoon-like look and feel, with numerous differences in design, including Link's own abilities (i.e. sidling against a wall) and a wide, open ocean world that seemed too much like the real ocean: mostly empty. However, after giving it a fair chance, I'm happy to say that Wind Waker more than stands out as a classic game. Link's facial expressions can be hilarious, the story is mind-blowing, the gameplay and design are fantastic. If you don't like exploring the world as much, for the most part you can breeze right through if you want to (there is a good chunk nearing the end of the game where you have to explore various islands, and spend a hefty sum of rupees as well). However, if you do like to explore, this Zelda is overflowing with opportunities, as the more you look, the more you find. What stands out in my mind is that, being as naive as I am, this was the first game that had a major plot twist that I never saw coming. My jaw was agape for several moments. That's what puts this game near the top of my all-time favorites.
