This 20-track CD from ProArte Digital has seemingly flown under the radar, perhaps because, in listing the tracks above, they don't tell you who the artists are! Tough way to try and sell a volume of music. And while the insert, containing 3 pages of liner notes by David Lennick, tells you when the records were recorded, there are no chart/label details. And most of these were huge hits in their day.The reverse contains this note "These selections were originally recorded during the 1930s. Each has been meticulously restored and digitally remastered for inclusion on this compact disc." And, truth be told, considering these songs were recorded 80-some years ago, the sound is pretty clean. Some faint hiss/scratchy sound here and there - but very definitely satisfactory for those who love the music of the Dirty Thirties - or those who want to sample it.
