Poor quality album. It looks pirated!, April 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
This album fails to show Fairuz' and the Rahbani Brothers' musical greatness. The low quality of the album is one reason, and it's because it was recorded poorly from live concerts. If you want to learn about Fairuz, check her album 'The Very Best of Fairuz'. It contains the most popular songs that everyone enjoys. I think that album works the best as an introduction to the music.

Fantastic vocals, schmaltzy instrumentation, June 10, 2000
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
Fairuz must have one of the best female voices in the Arab world, but the overly sentimental instrumentation seems inappropriate and distracting. I would have loved to hear her beautiful voice with a more traditional, non-Western orchestra. If a recording of that nature exists, someone please let me know about it!

Great CD, November 9, 1999

This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
This is a great example of classical Fairuz. Each song in the CD is dedicated to an Arab city and sung live, demonstrating the Lebanese singer's popularity through out the Arab world. She is truly a legend! Make sure you check out her other CD's such as "Kifek Inta," a beautfil example of Lebanese Jazz.

The Lady Can Sing..., March 14, 2003
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
Fairuz just has the most absolutely beautiful voice I have ever heard on a human being. I don't listen to a lot of Arabic music but I love Fairuz. As you might have guessed, all these songs are tributes to a particular Arab city, whether it's Beirut, Mina (in Egypt, Kuwait City, Amman or Baghdad.

She is just a remarksble singer, August 11, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
I have been listening to Fairuz for as long as I can remember. Although I haven't listened to this particular album, Fairuz's songs and voice continue to put me in a feeling of awe and admiration to her. It makes me proud to know that she is a fellow Lebanese who represents my country in a respectful way, especially that she will be singing in Geneva on August 12, 1999, for the International Red Cross. In general, the songs of Fairuz have a mix between Western and Eastern, some being jazzy while others having the Arabic touch. Some albums I suggest to Fairuz fans: The Very Best of Fairuz, To Assi, and Keefak Inta [How Are You]. Anyone who listens to these CD's will definitely enjoy them, whether he or she speaks Arabic or not.

Not the best recording, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
This album was compiled from previous live performances in the 60's and 70's. The recording is too noisy, and it's only worthwile for people who want to enjoy Fairuz's voice.
Personally, I only got that album because of the first song "ya mina el 7abayeb". I didn't find the rest much interesting.

GREAT, November 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Legendary Fairuz (Audio CD)
Fairuz to me represents the whole arab world. She sang for Beirut, Jerusalem, Egypt, Mecca ....The borders that exist in the middle east have been removed by her voice and words. The music is very relaxing, touching and symbolic to all of those that come from that region. The more modern arabic songs are good, but they will never have words and emotions as in Fairuz's music. You may not dance to it but you will hear, feel, cry and smile to every word of it.
