This game was better than what I expected.I have been wanting this game after I first seen the trailer for it a while back.I did not see too many good reviews about the game.So I waited played the demo. which then made me purchased the full version. If you like Half Life,Painkiller games and the Underworld movies you will like this game.If you have a good video card and crank the resolution up the game has some nice visuals and graphics. The only bad pick about the game and why it did not get a full set of stars is the save system. It uses check points and you can only start from the last saved check point.I wish game creators would get away from this type of save system and just let you save your game whenever you need to.If you don't mind that minor flaw about the save game system pick this one up and have fun blasting werewolves and other demon creatures.

I also love the look of mass chaos in the game, makes it seem like everything is falling apart.

So all in all i think it is a good game worth playing. I would wait till the price drops a little bit, then pick it up

3.0 out of 5 stars Average Game nothing new but not horrible, meh!, November 22, 2008

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

This game doesn't really do much to stick out, its graphics are standard second tier, like Fall of Liberty, but not as bad as the other reviewer claims; HL2's graphics are still better than 90% of current games so there's no comparison there but I'm positive they are better than HL1's with some genuinely cool looking creatures such as a giant made out of different objects like cars, fire hydrants and other things in a busy NY street.

Story: Well this is somewhat muddled centering around the mythical Pandora's Box opened in the modern world and the consequences that ensue. You can read the summary of it elsewhere but I didn't find it all that engaging or interesting, usual get framed stuff and try to get out of it. There seem to be mythical bad guys scattered in this game like gryphons and others that seem just thrown in. Of course you have your buddy on the radio keeping you updated with story info and other things. You also have standard PDA that you can get info and objectives from as well as picking up dropped data scattered in the levels, I haven't really used it though.

Gameplay: This is a no surprises type of shooter with the occasional environmental puzzle mixed in to get to your next objective think HL2 but not as sophisticated. This seems to have a sort of Bioshock-esque infected hand weapon that you get from grabbing PB in the first scene and you use this to fight the mythical bad guys as well as the human bad guys. I've played the first level and you use it and recharge it by killing the baddies and getting their energy or something like that, the discharge from your hand doesn't go very far but it is used to stun the baddies and then you finish them off with your other weapon, either a melee axe or a firearm, you can also carry molotovs/grenades. I'm not sure if there is an upgrade system to this like in Bioshock. The guns are pretty standard fair in both sound and look. You can find where you are supposed to go next by pressing the Q button and it will popup. You seem to be an expert at using a bypass to get past electronically locked doors of all kinds simply by using the E button to pop open the keypad and reroute power and it seems most doors are like this. Also you use E to turn valves and do other general actions, again pretty standard. Nothing hugely wrong though.

Graphics: Like I said these are generally second tier level with the some things being better than average. I didn't find the environments anything that special, the humans are not very good even in the cutscenes and the bad guys are nothing special either. Most of the textures are bland and not well detailed, but they are not horrible either. I wouldn't say the pics shown here are really that representative of the actual in game play, but almost none in a sales brochure are for any game. The water is not the type of advanced level you see in a Crysis or the latest Tomb Raider and neither is the fire. I don't think there is any atmospheric fog or any of that type of thing in this game. Again it's pretty unamazing stuff that could be said to be a step up from Far Cry 1's or Fall of Liberty but it's hard to compare a game that's colors are dark to a game that has bright colors like FC's. Some of it seems like an afterthought such as the museum statues are pretty bland and not detailed much and the cars are about the same way as well as the usual bland drums and boxes scattered about.

Sound: This was also par for the course, not really that immersive but the rock music let's you know that this is mostly a run and gun action game and is fast paced most of the time. I didn't find the music too much to handle though and it's not always blaring just when you are in an action heavy sequence like COD4's rock music gave you that urgent feeling. The weapons are all pretty generic sounding to me.

Value: Again I've only played through the first level that takes place in the museum, the streets, and the subway so I can't say how long this is. This game like many others seems like they just wanted to put something out there knowing that it was nothing special but it was cheap to produce so they didn't need to do too much to turn a profit. This game is already lost in the jungle of many games coming out and probably will stay there. Based on the unremarkableness of this game it's of course not worth it, it's worth twenty-five to thirty dollars brand new or around there. For the full fifty bucks or less you can get an exceptional game like Deadspace, COD, Gears of War, Brothers in arms, Crysis, Tomb Raider Underworld, HL2 and others.

If you want a standard FPS with nothing really innovative but a decent if uninspiring play through this would probably work. Again this shouldn't be considered at anything above thirty bucks brand new but you could probably wait a month and get it for even less than that. There don't seem to be any major flaws in the game and it does entertain but it's not a top tier game in any sense, I can't see playing this through more than once and there are so many excellent games both new and not new that you could pass this by and not miss much.

From reading the reviews here, I was not expecting much with this game, but it turned out to be one of the better games I've played in a while. Graphics are quite good, very short learning curve, simple keyboard control setup, and smooth glitch-free operation (except for the glitch mentioned below).

The game takes place in modern times, but with a mythological theme, so there are both human and monster-like enemies. Weapons are typical for a decent FPS. Pistols, assault rifles (with scopes), submachine guns, shotguns, frame throwers, rocket launchers, and grenades. Aside from the ammo stashes, you can also pick up weapons from dead enemies.

Health is restored by killing the mythological creatures and absorbing their "animus". You can use the animus to restore your health or as a type of close-range weapon that will stun enemies. In fact, some enemies must be stunned before you can kill them. The non-human enemies cover the traditional range of swarming little parasites to huge building-sized monsters.

While I didn't pay a huge amount of attention to the story line, it seemed about average and the voice acting was not bad. You often have team members running around with you, but they are autonomous. They tend to wind up being cannon fodder. I thought the setting was very well designed with some novel, though not particularly challenging, environmental puzzles. For those who find linear games boring, this is probably not for them. Personally, I don't have anything against linear games.

This game does not allow the player to save his progress. It uses the checkpoint system whereby the game automatically saves periodically. That means that, if you die, you will be set back to the most recent checkpoint. Some of the checkpoints are spaced pretty far apart, so you could wind up playing some sections over repeatedly. This wasn't a huge problem in this game, but there were a couple times that I wished they were a bit closer together. I played on normal difficulty and I don't know if other difficulty settings change the frequency of the checkpoints. Lack of manual save capability was the main factor that kept me from awarding five stars to this game.

I found the game to be on the longish side of average length. It seems like many newer games are quite short, so it was nice that it took a while to get through this.

This game has one serious glitch. Toward the end, you are to take an elevator to the roof of a building. When you step into the elevator, you get stuck and eventually die. I'm sure not everyone has this problem, but I don't know what triggers it. The answer for me was to change the MaxSmoothedFrameRate parameter in the file PandoraEngine.ini from 300 to 30. You will find the file under C:\Documents and Settings\My documents\My Games\Legendary\PandoraGame\Config\PandoraEngine.ini I found this solution using a web search. I don't know if it will work for everyone. After making the change, you can set it back after you get to the next checkpoint.

Over all, I found the game to be a lot of fun and visually interesting. While not a big fan of having super-natural powers (as with the animus in this game) this game kept it simple and useful. I paid $6 (plus shipping) for the game and found it to be one of the better bargains I've some across lately. I highly recommend this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Fun game...but the PC version is ruined by activation, November 26, 2010

= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars

I wouldn't have bought this (or I should say paid money for it...since they don't actually sell it to you) had I realized it had activation. No where in the product description did it say that when I got it. It's limited activation at that.

Disappointing since the game itself is actually a lot of fun. I'm baffled by the low professional reviews. It looks nice, has a fun story, fun, creative enemies, etc. It moves along at a fast pace and while you're fighting a smallish number of enemy types (like in any FPS) they're all VERY different-molten rock creatures vulnerable to water, werewolves that have to be decapitated, etc.

If you were intrigued by the premise, buy it...but buy it for one of the consoles. Thanks to activation (limited activation at that) I effectively have a paperweight now, and this would have actually been something I'd like to keep to play down the road.

This game did not activate with the key code provided. The company, Southpeak games lists a phone number and e-mail for customer support. After three phone calls, (recorded message each time), and four e-mails over a three week period, I have heard nothing. So maybe they're out of business or they all died in a nuclear blast. However, the phone number works and all the e-mails went through. I will send one last e-mail notifying them of my review on Amazon. Hopefully Amazon will grant me a refund. First and last time I will purchase a game sold by Southpeak games.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor movement controls kill this game, July 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This game has okay graphics, pretty good sound, standard story line, but the movement control kills any fun you could have with it. The character can't jump properly unless sprinting first and it kills the game-play. I didn't think it would be so bad but it really is. It's just not worth the aggravation.

This is a title to skip at any price. I would return it if I could.

Wow, stunningly tepid graphics. Unreal in 1998 had better graphics. Gameplay is just stupid. No AI to speak of and
the so called puzzles are too simple. Story line and action is one cliche after another. And what is it with EVERY door having the stupid security panel that you have to short circuit by holding E for 6 seconds. Does this add somthing to the game? The level design must have been done by students, blind students. I can't even finish the game because of a bug that causes you to fall through the elevator. (Lots of complaints about this bug). Gamecock doesn't even acknowledge the error. Don't waste your money, it's worth 4 bucks tops and that with a fix for the bug. Still no bug fix as of today.
