This is a great game. I used to play this game years ago when NES first came out. I just found and purchased this game last year. It is still fun to play after all these years.

The plot of this game is very basic and simple.
You play a winged hero on a mission to save Earth from demonic forces. You go through 5 different areas each one more challenging than the last.
At the end of each area, you have to fight a dragon that shoots out fireballs and then face the devil that shoots out eyeballs. One of the cool things about the game is the type of weapons you can use. The final weapon allows the character to change his appearance and become temporarily invicible until he is hit 3 times and returns to normal.

I also like the music throughout the game.
My favorite is the music from areas 4 and 5.

Legendary Wings may have the distinct honor of being the weirdest result of Capcom's efforts to diversify shooters in the 1980s. Set in an ancient Greece-inspired future (mind blown yet?), Legendary Wings features standard shoot things/power up/shoot more things gameplay but it's the oddball setting that truly sets it apart from vertical space shooters. If you can get past the partially naked winged dudes, Legendary Wings offers some other treats as well. For instance, a giant mouth spouts out vortexes that suck you into a side-scrolling stage with a creepy worm mini-boss. If you fully power up your weapons you turn into a flaming, butt-kicking phoenix. Although originally an arcade game, the NES port of Legendary Wings is especially welcome on the NES due to its cooperative mode, which allows you to experience the weirdness with a pal.

This is a pretty good aerial shooter with sidescrolling aerial shooting as well. The controls and game are easy to master and once you get it down the first three levels will be easy to beat. However, the last two stages are very tough I died so many times in those stages but refused to give up until I won. The ending is nothing special but the game is still fun to play. However, because you shoot faster tapping a button I must recommend owning a multi-tap controller or a fourscore because your thumb will get tired.
