Ning Nang Nong. I mean it now., December 18, 2002

Though dated, much of Spike Milligan's work remains very funny. One reason so much of this seems old-hat is that it has been widely copied by comedians in the intervening 40 years. Still, the comic impulse is clear and Milligan's zaniness is entertaining to listen to at least once in a while. I am most fascinated by the descriptions of Milligan's military service, short anecdotes scattered over the whole CD. He certainly has the gift of gab. The main reason I bought this, though, is "Ning Nang Nong," one the strangest, funniest, most charming little nonesuches I know. Dr. Demento used to play it.
