This review is from: Legends and Lore of the American Indians (Paperback)
I came across this book while doing research on Native American mythology. Only the editor (Terri Hardin) is cited anywhere; no other sources, no bibliography. I was disturbed to find that large portions of this book are lifted word for word, without acknowledgment, from an earlier book--Myths of the North American Indians by Lewis Spence. My version of that book is a reprint by Gramercy Books, 1994, but Spence died in 1955, so it's obviously the earlier text. Spence uses dated terms such as "the Red Man," which Hardin blithely copies as well. Both books are out of print, but if you're looking for an earlier perspective on Native American history and mythology, you might be better served by seeking out the original.
