Book Description

New York Times bestselling author Richard A. Knaak’s unforgettable Legends of the Dragonrealm series continues with this spellbinding tale of a powerful sorcerer trapped in a purgatory of his own making.

Survivor of a once-mighty race of sorcerers, the spellcaster known to those of the Dragonrealm simply as Shade struggles to find an end to the curse he brought upon himself millennia ago in his hope to escape death . . . and worse. Instead of immortality, he was condemned to an endless series of lives alternating between darkness and light, with “death” only resurrecting him over and over. His blurred features and unstable but terrible powers a threat to friend and foe alike, the hooded sorcerer must defy not only those who would manipulate him, but also his very self. Worse, he must do so always aware that even the land itself may have sinister designs upon him. . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Dragon Realm January 24, 2013
By Miorac
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you have not read any Dragon Realm books- stop and read from the begining, why deny yourself the discovery. Not that this is not or cannot be a stand alone book, its just dont miss out.
The Dragon realm is full of magic and intregue, sword and sorcery and treachery. There are a multitude of races and inhabitants. All of these components are creatively put together by Knaack.
I can never get enough of Shade or Dark Horse "no one expects Dark Horse"! I will always want more. Thanks for writing another Dragon Realm book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too short but... January 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had basically LOVED the Author's full serie following the Bedlam Family in the Dragonrealm, and was awaiting with great impatience this "extension" cause Shade has definitely been my very favorite Character all along the serie.
This book has delivered on my hopes, just Shade is such a character that I find it sad it could all be settled in one book only. (would have hoped he could get a full saga of his own ^^ he really deserves it :D Mr Knaak, if you ever read this... )
A "must have read" for any fan of the Dragonrealm serie. For anyone else, I would definitely advise to start with the Legends or they might miss several references to events explained in the previous books.
An enjoyable to read epic quest, in the perfect conitnuity of the Legends of the Dragonrealm serie. I do hope to see even more in the future, and pray Mr Knaak isn't done with his Dragonrealm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing better than the DragonRealm Series January 24, 2014
By ravis2
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was actually more than I wanted. Easy print to read and the author does an outstanding job. The rest of my collection of this series a better matched to each other but, their quality pales beside this (# 11) edition.

Well written and engrossing for fans of the Dragonrealm. The characters are again coming into their own. Let`s hope that Richard Knaak continues his exploration of this magical world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adventure indeed March 29, 2013
By Mike
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very extensive and powerful tale. Very well written. The only thing I could possibly ask for is a little more comedy, but that's just a personal requirement I seek in the books I read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new book after far too long November 20, 2012
Format:Paperback
Richard Knaak has released a dragonrealm book after far too long. This book is just as good as the other books and some answers are provided to questions that were left unanswered. However the book also provides more questions, which will hopefully lead to a couple more sequels. If you loved the original series or have just discovered it this book is a must to get. You'll learn more about shade, the Crystal Dragon and a host of other characters you've missed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Questions Answered November 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book follows in line with his other works in that it's well written and a page turner. I was half way through the excellent Game of Thrones book when I saw this was released. I immediately put it down and read Shade from cover to cover. Many questions are answered in this book so it feels like it gives closure to the series. Just enough was left unsaid though, that I would not be surprised if we saw more from the Dragonrealm.
