It's hard to say too much without giving away some of the secrets but I will say this, the setting of the book is magical, the characters are well-developed and truly interesting. The subject matter is a breath of fresh air among other fantasy novels. The best part is that this is just book one. There's still a whole series to follow!
As a side note, I had the pleasure of meeting the author, Meadow Griffin in Big Bear and she is an amazingly spirited upcoming writer and artist! I'm happy to have found this book early in her career.
Right from the start, this book takes you into a world of wonder and amazement. The characters are rich. The dialogue is witty. And the story is simply beautiful. The tales I enjoy the most are the ones that sweep me off my feet, into another realm, and keep my mind there even when I'm not reading the book. Legends of Erin does this and more.
The author brought me through an emotional journey craftily interwoven with sadness, joy, mystery, and outright hilarity. The author should not only be certified as a master storyteller, but a comedienne as well. She is so funny!
As far as who this book is for, this is a great novel for children and adults. I am a 21 year old university student and I wish this book existed in my youth - my childhood would have been way more cool.
One of my favorite aspects of the book are the Christian themes enfolded into the story. It not only contains an awesome story, but also has beautifully symbolic moments of Christ and His sacrificial love - perfect for introducing young children to the love of God.
All in all this has become my favorite fantasy book and I cannot wait to see how the adventure unfolds as the story continues in upcoming sequels.
