Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

First published in 1901, The Legends of Genesis is a scholarly investigation of the books of Genesis as a product of humanity before historical records were considered important and kept for posterity. Some of the stories found within the book of Genesis are legends, telling the tale of particular people in a poetic form separate from history, reporting the literal truth but capturing the essence of an event.

This book takes a critical look at Genesis as literature and aims to teach its readers how dissect one of the world's most influential pieces of writing. Biblical scholars and students of literature will find this an informative and enlightening read. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
